Solo Cose Belle - mese di Agosto / Only Beautiful Things - month of August

Carissimi lettori e amici,

Confesso che questo mese ho faticato davvero a trovare cose belle di cui parlare. I miei problemi personali e di salute sono stati sovrastati da quello che succede nel mondo, dalle sofferenze e le atrocità che tante persone vivono e mi hanno fatto cadere in uno stato di desolazione e impotenza. Pensando a questo post ho deciso che anche se non sono esplicitamente cose belle, forse la condivisione di alcuni momenti che mi hanno distratta da tutto questo, potrebbe funzionare. 

Ho addolcito la rabbia verso le mie gambe con delle maschere idratanti per i piedi, una vera coccola dopo una vacanza al mare che ha messo a dura prova la loro cute. Se v'interessa un'eventuale recensione, fatemi sapere e cercherò di organizzare un post futuro.

Dear readers and friends,

I confess that this month I really struggled to find beautiful things to talk about. My personal and health problems have been overwhelmed by what is happening in the world, by the sufferings and atrocities that so many people experience and have made me fall into a state of desolation and helplessness. Thinking about this post I decided that even if they are not explicitly beautiful things, maybe sharing some moments that distracted me from all this, could work.

I soothed the anger towards my legs with moisturizing foot masks, a real treat after a beach holiday that put a strain on their skin. If you are interested in a possible review, let me know and I will try to organize a future post.

Contro le notizie sconvolgenti invece non sapevo cosa fare e allora sono rincorsa al mio fidato youtube, alla ricerca di qualche gruppo o personaggio comico che mi faccia pensare almeno per qualche minuto ad altro e cosi ho scoperto HMATT. Qui sotto condividerò con voi un loro video, sono un gruppo di due ragazzi, Luca e Matteo, ai quale molto spesso si aggiungono la ragazza di Matt, Stefania e alcuni loro amici, il più popolare fra questi essendo Benze. Questo gruppo crea video seguendo diversi format e i loro commenti sono memorabili. Condividerò però con voi solo un loro video introduttivo ma nella descrizione del video troverete tutti i link necessari per seguirli, vedere altri video e conoscerli meglio. Spero che i loro video possano divertirvi o se non altro, distrare anche voi dai vostri demoni o dalla sofferenza che c'è intorno.

Against the shocking news, on the other hand, I did not know what to do and so I leaned on my trusty youtube, looking for some group or comic character who would make me think about something else for at least a few minutes and so I discovered HMATT. Below I will share a video of them with you, they are a group of two guys, Luca and Matteo, to which Matt's girlfriend, Stefania and some of their friends are added very often, the most popular of these being Benze. This group creates videos following different formats and their comments are memorable. However, I will share with you only one of their introductory videos but in the video description you will find all the links you need to follow them, see other videos and get to know them better. I hope their videos will amuse you or at least distract you from your demons or the suffering around you.

Non so quanto sono importanti le unghie per voi, se le curate a casa voi stessi oppure se preferite andare in centri specializzati e affidarvi alle cure di persone specializzate ma credo comunque che l’uso di prodotti che trattano le unghie può sempre risultare utile. Durante i precedenti periodi di zona rossa, quando i centri di bellezza erano chiusi, avere a casa prodotti destinati alla cura delle unghie mi è tornato molto utile. Per questo motivo oggi desidero parlarvi del trattamento per unghie e cuticole Emozioni floreali – oil infusion del marchio italiano Bottega Verde. Non ho mai avuto grossi problemi con le cuticole ma ogni tanto una sessione di cure e coccole, hanno giovato molto alla cura delle mie mani.

Valutazione personale: Come avevo già menzionato non ho acquistato questo prodotto perché ne avessi realmente bisogno ma perché trovandolo scontato di più del 70%, ho deciso di provare i suoi benefici. Come primo beneficio che ho notato è stato il profumo piacevolissimo e la sensazione di relax mentre mi massaggiavo le cuticole con questo olio. Io applico il trattamento in una prima fase su unghie e cuticole, lo lascio agire per un paio di minuti e solo dopo comincio a massaggiare ogni dito alla volta. Mi piace eseguire questo trattamento prima di applicare lo smalto per avere mani curate e in ordine. Subito dopo il massaggio la pelle rimane soffice e liscia. Le cuticole si ammorbidiscono e con un simile trattamento ho evitato la comparsa di sgradevoli pellicine. Il prezzo è abbastanza alto ma considerando che il prodotto che ho io viene usato da circa due anni quasi e ho lo sto finendo solo adesso, ritengo comunque che abbia un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Il marchio offre diversi altri prodotti simili che ourtroppo non ho ancora testato. 

Vorrei aggiungere anche che uso il prodotto da quasi 24 mesi, quindi oltre la validità indicata dal produttore e non ho notato differenze o cambiamenti nella qualità del prodotto e del risultato.

PRO: confezione travel friendly, boccetta maneggevole con un pennello morbido e preciso, fragranza molto piacevole e rilassante, lascia la pelle e le cuticole molto soffici

CONTRO: abbastanza costoso a prezzo pieno

Conclusione: Questo prodotto potrebbe interessare persone con problemi di cuticole e pelle secca, che cercano allo stesso tempo di rilassarsi e curare le mani in modo adeguato.

Personal evaluation: As I had already mentioned I didn't buy this product because I really needed it but because finding it discounted by more than 70% and, therefore I decided to try its benefits. The first benefit I noticed was the very pleasant scent and the feeling of relaxation while massaging my cuticles with this oil. I apply the treatment in a first phase on nails and cuticles, I let it act for a couple of minutes and only then I begin to massage each finger at a time. I like to perform this treatment before applying the nail polish to have neat and tidy hands. Immediately after the massage, the skin remains soft and smooth. The cuticles are softened and with a similar treatment I have avoided the appearance of unsightly cuticles. The price is quite high but considering that the product I have has been used for almost two years now and I am finishing it only now, I still think it has a good quality / price ratio. The brand offers similar other products that I have not managed to test yet. 

I would also like to add that I have been using the product for almost 24 months, therefore beyond the validity indicated by the manufacturer and I have not noticed any differences or changes in the quality of the product and the results.

PROS: travel friendly packaging, handy bottle with a soft and precise brush, very pleasant and relaxing fragrance, leaves the skin and cuticles very soft

CONS: quite expensive at full price

Conclusion: This product may be of interest to people with cuticle problems and dry skin, who seek to relax and care for their hands properly at the same time.

Suicide Squad - Missione Suicida - o come rovinare una saga con un cast poco ispirato / Suicide Squad or how to ruin a saga with an uninspired cast

Carissimi amici e lettori,

Come avrete sicuramente capito dal titolo, ho visto al cinema il nuovo film Suicide Squad (missione suicida) e sono rimasta alquanto delusa. Ho apprezzato moltissimo il primo film di questa saga e ho anche pagato una bella somma per rivederlo qualche giorno prima di andare al cinema a vedere il sequel e anche se avessi dei grossi dubbi su certi personaggi del cast, pensavo che la presenza di Margot Robbie e Idris Elba fosse sufficiente a garantire una bella dinamica. Purtroppo mi ero sbagliata e ho capito che basta una sola frutta marcia per rovinare una cesta intera. Ho notato un fenomeno abbastanza comune alla Hollywood e cioè quello di promuovere aggressivamente certi attori inserendoli in tutti i film popolari del momento e finché si trattava di attori di talento come era successo con Sam Worthington, Shailene Woodley o Robert Pattison, questo fenomeno non mi ha disturbato minimamente ma quando invece prendono persone che provengono da un altro background, senza aver fatto un percorso di crescita o meglio detto senza aver fatto la gavetta, e gli inseriscono direttamente nelle saghe più popolari in ruoli chiave, rimango basita. La presenza che mi ha contrariato in questo caso è stata la scelta di John Cena per il ruolo di Peacemaker. L'ho trovato scialbo, inadatto, banale e a tratti anche esagerato. Nonostante fosse un film caricaturale, John Cena era completamente inadatto, non faceva ridere, era teso quando doveva divertire e impacciato o inerme quando il ruolo lo voleva dinamico. Le sue espressioni faciali erano quelle di un bambino obbligato dalla madre a partecipare per la prima volta in una recita scolastica. A differenza di altri attori che vengono dal mondo del wrestling come Dwayne Johnson o perfino Dave Bautista che sono partiti da ruoli minori, imparando il mestiere, acquisendo abilità e sviluppando il carisma necessario per recitare in certi personaggi che adesso vengono identificati solo con il loro viso, John Cena è stato troppo affrettato. 

Il pensiero che dovrò vederlo anche nell'ultimo film della serie Fast & Furious mi preoccupa parecchio e mi fa pesare molto la decisione di andare o meno a vedere il film. Ovviamente non farò alcun spoiler ma credo che la sua scelta per questa saga doveva essere ponderata meglio perché ha abbassato considerevolmente l'indice di gradimento e l'affluenza nelle sale di cinema.

As you may have guessed from the title, I saw the new movie Suicide Squad at the cinema and I was quite disappointed. I really enjoyed the first film of this saga and I also paid a nice sum to see it again a few days before going to the cinema for the sequel and even though I had big doubts about certain characters in the cast, I thought that the presence of Margot Robbie and Idris Elba was enough to guarantee a nice dynamic. Unfortunately I was wrong and I realized that just one rotten fruit is enough to ruin an entire basket. I noticed a fairly common phenomenon in Hollywood and that is to aggressively promote certain actors by inserting them in all the popular films at the time and as long as they were talented actors as had happened with Sam Worthington, Shailene Woodley or Robert Pattison, this phenomenon was not disturbing at all, but when instead they take people who come from another background, without having made a path of growth or better said without having done the apprenticeship and insert them directly in the most popular sagas in key roles, I am stunned. The presence that annoyed me in this case was the choice of John Cena for the role of Peacemaker. I found it dull, unsuitable, banal and at times even exaggerated. Despite being a cartoon movie, John Cena was completely unsuitable, he was not funny, he was tense when he had to entertain and awkward or helpless when the role wanted him dynamic. His facial expressions were those of a child forced by his mother to participate for the first time in a school play. Unlike other actors who come from the world of wrestling such as Dwayne Johnson or even Dave Bautista who started from minor roles, learning the trade, acquiring skills and developing the charisma necessary to act in certain characters who are now identified only with their face, John Cena was too hasty.

The thought that I will have to see it also in the last movie of the Fast & Furious series worries me a lot and makes me weigh a lot the decision to go or not to see it. Obviously I will not make any spoilers but I think that his choice for this saga had to be better considered because it has considerably lowered the approval rating and the turnout in cinemas.

Jazz di Toni Morrison - recensione letteraria / Jazz by Toni Morrison - book review

Il post di oggi è un'altra recensione letteraria. Se vi ricordate Toni Morrison e il suo libro Amatissima recensito QUI, allora sicuramente potrete immaginare che ero decisa a leggere tanti altri suoi libri. Ecco, dunque che la recensione di oggi vede come protagonista il libro Jazz di Toni Morrison.

Inizio subito con quella che dovrebbe essere la mia conclusione ma ce preferisco menzionare subito in quanto ritengo che ogni lettore debba sentirsi motivato a leggere questo libro. Jazz di Toni Morrison è un libro grandioso, magistrale, sorprendente ed evocatorio, un libro che permette al lettore di sondare ogni angolo dell’animo umano, di esplorare e vivere le passioni dei suoi personaggi in prima persona grazie al talento indiscusso della sua autrice. Credetemi quando dico, questo libro vi resterà impresso nella memoria, rimarrà con voi a lungo e ogni qualvolta sentirete, incontrerete o vi succederà qualcosa di lontanamente simile, il fervore di questo libro vi tornerà in mente come una rivelazione.

La storia di questo romanzo inizia con un venditore cinquantenne di colore, Joe Trace, che uccide la giovane amante nel Harlem del 1926. Partendo da questa storia scopriamo poi in seguito Violet, la moglie di Joe, una parrucchiera senza licenza, Dorcas, l’amante diciottenne, Alice, zia effettiva e madre spirituale di Dorcas, Selvaggia, madre naturale di Joe che lo aveva abbandonato alla nascita, Malvonne, la portinaia che finisce per favorire nonché nascondere la relazione clandestina di Joe, Rose Dear, la madre di Violet, True Belle, la nonna di Violet, Golden Gray, il ragazzo mulatto con i riccioli biondi, Hunters Hunter, padre naturale di Golden Gray ma tenuto all’oscuro dall’esistenza di questo figlio e Felice, l’amica fedele di Dorcas che avrà un ruolo fondamentale nel finale di questa storia. I destini di questi personaggi s’intrecciano in diverse occasioni perché ognuno vive un dramma personale in un quadro molto ampio di quella che era la vita di una persona di colore alla fine del XIX secolo e l’inizio del XX secolo. L’autrice fa un capolavoro nell’alternare la voce narrante cosi il lettore ha un’immagine completa di ogni situazione e può trarre da solo le conclusioni. La narrazione è a tratti frenetica, a tratti lirica e lenta, proprio come la musica Jazz che è stata l’emblema della società afroamericana per decenni e quindi scelta debitamente come titolo per questo romanzo.

In questo romanzo Toni Morrison dipinge con grande realismo quella che era la società americana nel periodo dopo la guerra civile e fino alla grande depressione economica, un’epoca marcata da violenze, discriminazione, segregazione sociale e conflitti. Ci sono momenti epici di grande impatto in cui Toni Morrison illustra senza commiserazione e senza giudizi personali quello che erano le leggi Jim Crow, cosa significasse riscattarsi dalla schiavitù e in cosa consistesse cercare un nuovo inizio. Le sue grandi qualità narratrici si evincono anche nella raffigurazione dei personaggi, delle loro intenzioni, dei loro pensieri e in tutto questo lei rimane oggettiva perché permette al lettore di scoprire la stessa situazione anche dal punto di vista opposto. Questa sua capacità ha incluso il romanzo Jazz nella categoria “romanzo corale” ma io trovo che questo termine sia sbagliato perché nonostante Jazz desse voce a diversi personaggi, ogni personaggio ha la sua storia, ha il suo modo diverso di vedere, si sentire, di “cantare” e perciò ogni personaggio completa un assolo.

La forza motrice di questo romanzo è l’amore, a tratti dolce e soave, a tratti passionale e violento, amore intenso, amore possessivo, amore geloso, amore indifferente, amore che delude, amore che completa. Ogni personaggio lo vive in modo diverso in diverse epoche della sua vita, lo persegue, lo usa o viene usato da esso, lo venera o viene venerato e quando pensa di averlo compreso, scopre che in realtà non lo aveva ancora sfiorato. Il finale di questo libro è davvero sorprendente. Confesso ho riletto diverse volte le ultime pagine fino ad arrivare all’illuminazione e a capire quale fosse il significato di questo finale. Probabilmente l’intensità di questo romanzo mi aveva trasbordata in una certa dimensione ma proprio per questo motivo che il finale risulta una bella, anzi bellissima sorpresa, per certi versi inaspettata ma di grande profondità emotiva.

Consiglio dunque questo romanzo a tutti coloro che vogliono scoprire il mondo dell’amore, capire la differenza fra l’amore giovane e quello maturo, scoprire la sua intensità e il suo dolore. Consiglio questo libro a tutti coloro che vogliono conoscere, che non hanno paura di mettere in dubbio la storia o di interrogarsi su giusto e sbagliato. Lo consiglio perché sarà un’esperienza indimenticabile!

Today's post is another literary review. If you remember Toni Morrison and her book Beloved reviewed HERE, then surely you can imagine that I was determined to read many other books by this author. Therefore, this is why today's review sees as the protagonist the book Jazz by Toni Morrison.

I start right away with what should be my conclusion but I prefer to mention them right away as I believe that every reader should feel motivated to read this book. Jazz by Toni Morrison is a magnificent, masterful, surprising and evocative book, a book that allows the reader to probe every corner of the human soul, to explore and experience the passions of its characters firsthand thanks to the undisputed talent of its author. Believe me when I say, this book will remain in your memory, it will stay with you for a long time, and whenever you hear, encounter or live something remotely similar, the fervor of this book will come to your mind as a revelation.

The story of this novel begins with a 50-year-old black salesman, Joe Trace, who kills his young mistress in 1926's Harlem. Starting with this event we later discover Violet, Joe's wife, an unlicensed hairdresser, Dorcas, his eighteen-year-old lover, Alice, Dorcas's actual aunt and spiritual mother, Wild, Joe's natural mother who had abandoned him at birth, Malvonne, the concierge who ends up favoring and hiding Joe's clandestine relationship, Rose Dear, Violet's mother, True Belle, Violet's grandmother, Golden Gray, the mulatto boy with blond curls, Hunters Hunter, Golden Gray's natural father but kept in the dark by the existence of this son and Happy, Dorcas's faithful friend who will have a fundamental role in the ending of this novel. The fates of these characters intertwine on several occasions because each experiences a personal drama within a very broad framework of what was the life of a black person at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The author makes a masterpiece in alternating the narrative voice so the reader has a complete picture of each situation and can draw conclusions by himself. The narration is at times frenetic, at times lyrical and slow, just like the jazz music that has been the emblem of African American society for decades and therefore properly chosen as the title for this novel.

In this novel, Toni Morrison paints with great realism what American society was in the period after the civil war and up to the great economic depression, an era marked by violence, discrimination, social segregation and conflicts. There are epic moments of great impact where Toni Morrison illustrates without commiseration and without personal judgment what the Jim Crow laws were, what it meant to rescue oneself from slavery and what it signifies to seek a new beginning. Her great narrative qualities are also evident in the representation of the characters, their intentions, their thoughts and in all this she remains objective because she allows the reader to discover the same situation also from the opposite point of view. This ability has included the Jazz novel in the category "choral novel" but I find that this term is wrong because although Jazz gave voice to different characters, each character has its own story, has its own different way of seeing, feeling, "singing" and therefore each character completes a solo.

The driving force of this novel is love, sometimes sweet and suave, sometimes passionate and violent, intense love, possessive love, jealous love, indifferent love, love that disappoints, love that completes. Each character experiences it differently in different eras of his life, pursues it, uses it or is used by it, worships it or is revered and when he thinks he has understood it, he discovers that in reality he has not yet touched it. The ending of this book is truly amazing. I confess I reread the last pages several times until I got to enlightenment and understood what the meaning of this ending was. Probably the intensity of this novel had transfered me to a certain dimension but for this very reason that the ending is a beautiful, nay, a very beautiful surprise, in some ways unexpected but of great emotional depth.

I therefore recommend this novel to all those who want to discover the world of love, understand the difference between young and mature love, discover its intensity and its pain. I recommend this book to all those who want to know, who are not afraid to question history or question right and wrong. I recommend it because it will be an unforgettable experience!
