Viaggiare a Nizza - la mia città preferita / Travel to Nice - my favourite city

Ciao carissimi lettori,

Oggi voglio parlarvi di Nizza, una città romantica, una città bellissima e una città che ha conosciuto la bella vita ma anche la sofferenza. Ho visitato Nizza in diversi anni e confesso che l’ultima volta che l’ho vista, cioè a dicembre dell’anno scorso, ho notato un forte cambiamento, soprattutto nelle persone e nella loro accoglienza. Probabilmente è stato l’incidente terroristico del luglio del 2016 che ha fatto capire ai suoi cittadini che il mondo ha sofferto insieme a loro e ha provato il loro dolore ed è stato probabilmente anche la causa della presenza di quel enorme hastag #ILOVENICE. Francia e Nizza soprattutto, hanno capito che hanno bisogno della gente, del loro amore e quindi lo gridano fortemente in una lingua che non è la loro lingua ma che ha la particolarità di poter unire tutto il mondo. Ho notato questo soprattutto nella frequenza con la quale il personale di negozi, ristoranti e bar ti parlano subito in inglese non appena capiscono che sei un forestiero. Tutto questo mi aveva deluso un po’ perché io parlo il francese e anche se non lo faccio più da 20 anni quasi, cerco qualsiasi scusa per dare una spolverata alla lingua di Flaubert e di Balzac.

Hello my dear readers,

Today I want to talk to you about Nice, a romantic city, a beautiful city and a city that has known both the good life and the suffering. I visited Nice in several years and I confess that the last time I saw it, that is in December of last year, I noticed a strong change, especially in people and in their hospitality. It was probably the terrorist incident in July 2016 that made its citizens understand that the world suffered along with them and experienced their pain and was probably also the cause of the presence of that huge hastag #ILOVENICE. France and Nice above all, have understood that they need people, their love and therefore shout it loudly in a language that is not their language but that has the particularity of being able to unite the whole world. I noticed this especially in the frequency with which the staff of shops, restaurants and bars speak to you immediately in English as soon as they understand that you are a foreigner. All this had disappointed me a little because I speak French and even if I haven't done it for almost 20 years, I look for any excuse to give a dusting to the language of Flaubert and Balzac.

Cosa fare a Nizza mi chiederete? Beh, lasciatemi dire che non è per niente difficile. Potete sempre cominciare con una passeggiata sulla famosa Promenade des Anglais, il lungomare che si estende dal viale René Cassin e finisce nel giardino Alberto I nella vecchia città. Sicuramente avete già visto questo lungomare costeggiato dagli hotel più lussuosi della città in innumerevoli film, ma vi assicuro che la brezza marina costante di cui ci si può godere durante una passeggiata vi faranno desiderare ritornare ancora e ancora. Seduti su una di quelle tantissime panchine blu, ci si può osservare il bellissimo mare, azzurro, spumeggiante e frenetico. Se aspettate fino al calar del sole, il tramonto vi ripagherà con un’esplosione mai vista di colori come se il mare prendesse letteralmente fuoco.

What to do in Nice you may ask me? Well, let me tell you it's not difficult at all. You can always start with a walk on the famous Promenade des Anglais, the promenade that extends from the avenue René Cassin and ends in the Albert I garden in the old city. Surely you have already seen this promenade coasted by the most luxurious hotels in the city in countless films, but I assure you that the constant sea breeze that you can enjoy during a walk will make you want to come back again and again. Sitting on one of those many blue benches, you can see the beautiful blue, foamy and frantic sea. If you wait until sun down, the sunset will repay you with an explosion never seen before of colors as if the sea literally took fire.

Cosa visitare a Nizza oltre alla Promenade Des Anglais? Ci sono tantissimi posti e musei come l’Opéra de Nice, le Cathédrale Sainte Réparate, il Musée des Beaux Arts, il Musée Matisse, la Place (piazza) Massena illuminata di notte di sculture colorate come potete vedere anche nelle foto qui sotto oppure la Place Garibaldi, la più vecchia ed emblematica piazza della città, ritratta nelle foto qui sotto illuminata da schizzi d’acqua colorati. In inverno Nizza si riempie di colori e di luci e nella città vecchia e possibile ammirare, comprare, assaggiare le specialità per questa stagione come il “vin chaud” (vino caldo), “jus de pommes” (suco di mele caldo) o il “cidre” (sidro). Come potete vedere, io l’ho già fatto e vi assicuro che sono una delizia.

What to visit in Nice besides the Promenade Des Anglais? There are plenty of places and museums such as the Opéra de Nice, the Cathédrale Sainte Réparate, the Musée des Beaux Arts, the Musée Matisse, La Place (square) Massena illuminated by colored sculptures at night as you can also see in the photos below or La Place Garibaldi, the oldest and most emblematic square in the city, shown in the photos below illuminated by splashes of colored water. In winter Nice fills with colors and lights and in the old city it is possible to admire, buy and taste the specialties for this season such as the "vin chaud" (hot wine), "jus de pommes" (warm apple juice) or the "Cidre". As you can see, I have already done that and I can assure you that they are a true delight.

Già che ci siete, non dimenticatevi di assaggiare la loro cucina e non solo le specialità di cui avete sentito parlare molto spesso come la ratatoille o la salade niçoise ma anche la socca, che potete gustare anche ai mercatini o bar a prezzi molto bassi o le loro specialità di carne. I ristoranti sulla famosa Promenade des Anglais sono cari e hanno delle proposte abbastanza turistiche, se volete restare comunque vicino al centro perché lì trovate senza problemi parcheggio a pagamento, vi suggerisco di cercare e consultare anche tripadvisor o altri siti del genere per i piccoli ristoranti della vecchia città. Noi abbiamo trovato un delizioso, molto chic ed elegante ristorantino con pochi tavoli e piatti squisiti. Non sto collaborando con questo ristorante per questo post e quindi non vi dico il nome ma vi confesso che è stata una delle mie esperienze più gratificanti. Simile a questo ce ne sono decine di ristoranti, tutti molto accoglienti e decorati con tanto buon gusto e lusso come sono soliti fare i francesi.

While you're at it, don't forget to taste their cuisine and not just the specialties you have often heard of such as ratatoille or salade niçoise but also socca, which you can also enjoy at street markets or bars at very low prices or their meat specialties. The restaurants on the famous Promenade des Anglais are expensive and have mainly tourist menus, if you want to stay close to the center anyway because there you can find paid parking without problems, I suggest you look for and consult tripadvisor or other similar sites for small restaurants in the Old Town. We found a delightful, very chic and elegant restaurant with a few tables and exquisite dishes. I'm not collaborating with this restaurant for this post and so I won't tell you the name but I confess that it was one of the most rewarding experiencesI ever had. Similar to this, there are dozens of restaurants, all very welcoming and decorated with much good taste and luxury as the French are used to do.

Perché recensisco senza compenso? / Why do i review without compensation?

In tanti avete notato che recensisco tantissimi prodotti senza avere accordi con aziende e senza essere in qualche modo sponsorizzata e alcuni di voi hanno chiamato questo fatto pubblicità gratuita. Io non la chiamerei cosi anche perché non sto invitando le persone a comprare nulla in quei casi. Queste recensioni possono al massimo essere considerate casi di product placement nel peggiore dei casi ma io le chiamo semplicemente valutazioni oneste di prodotti e servizi. Quindi perché recensisco prodotti senza compenso? Perché credo nella libertà di parola, perché penso che il consumatore abbia il diritto sacro santo di condividere la sua esperienza e di far sapere come si è trovato usando certi prodotti, come potrebbe usarli al meglio, cosa ritiene opportuno migliorare e sopratutto far notare quando qualcosa non funziona e farlo sapere a chi possa essere interessato. Io, in quanto consumatrice, confesso che leggo quasi sempre delle recensioni prima di acquistare un prodotto o usare un servizio e confesso anche che preferisco dare più attenzione alle recensioni non sponsorizzate perché le ritengo più affidabili. Con questo non voglio dire che una persona che recensisce prodotti ricevuti in omaggio non sia sincera, anche io ho recensito in alcune occasioni prodotti che mi sono stati regalati con questo scopo, però credo che in questi casi il recensore tende a essere più delicato, a tralasciare certi elementi o a raccontarli in una luce migliore. Mi ricordo che tempo fa avevo letto una recensione sponsorizzata di un prodotto cosmetico dove l'autrice assicurava che il prodotto aveva un profumo buonissimo, senza altri dettagli e dopo avermelo procurato ho trovato quel profumo veramente sgradevole. Apprezzo moltissimo le recensioni che offrono informazioni su come usare al meglio un  prodotto o un servizio e cosa fare quando ci sono aspetti da migliorare e sono contenta di scoprire online sempre più recensioni di questo tipo anche nei casi delle collaborazioni perché io stessa cerco di comportarmi cosi nel caso di una recensione che è frutto di una collaborazione. Perché recensisco allora i prodotti se non ho nessun compenso? Perché penso di avere il diritto di esprimere la mia opinione e raccontare la mia esperienza in seguito all'utilizzo di prodotti e servizi perché voglio e spero che la mia recensione sia percepita come una testimonianza da chiunque ne abbia bisogno. Recensisco i prodotti dal mio punto di vista cercando comunque di mettermi nei panni di un potenziale consumatore e pensare cosa potesse interessarlo in base a criteri e requisiti oggettivi. Se fino a poco fa segnalavo solo le recensioni che erano frutto di una collaborazione, ho recentemente deciso di segnalare anche quelle che non lo sono come tale quindi avviso i miei lettori che nei casi in cui trovate nelle etichette di un post in tag "collaborazione" si tratta si un post sponsorizzato o in cui il prodotto mi è stato regalato a questo scopo e nei casi in cui troverete il tag "no sponsor" o la dicitura che il post è solo "frutto di una mia esperienza da consumatore", non si tratta di una collaborazione ma di una testimonianza.

Many of you have noticed that I review many products without having agreements with companies and without being somehow sponsored and some of you have called this fact free advertising. I would not call it that, because I'm not inviting people to buy anything in those cases. These reviews can at most be considered cases of product placement in the worst case but I call them simply honest evaluations of products and services. So why do I review products without compensation? Because I believe in freedom of speech, because I think that the consumer has the sacred and holy right to share his experience and to let know how he found himself using certain products, how one could use them to the best, what he thinks it is appropriate to improve and above all, to point out when something it does not work and make it known to whom might be interested in. As a consumer, I confess that I almost always read reviews before buying a product or using a service and I also confess that I prefer to pay more attention to non-sponsored reviews because I consider them more reliable. With this I do not want to say that a person who reviews products received as gifts is not honest, I have also reviewed on some occasions products that have been given to me for this purpose, but I think that in these cases the reviewer tends to be more delicate, to leave out certain elements or tell them in a better light. I remember that some time ago I had read a sponsored review of a cosmetic product where the author assured that the product had a very good smell, without other details and after having myself procured, I found that had a really unpleasant smell. I really appreciate the reviews that offer information on how to use a product or service at best and what to do when there are aspects to improve and I'm happy to find more and more reviews of this kind online even in cases of collaborations because I try to behave like that myself in the case of a review that is the result of a collaboration. Why do I review products if I have no compensation? Because I think I have the right to express my opinion and tell my experience of using products and services because I want and hope that my evaluation is perceived as a testimony by anyone who needs it. I review the products from my point of view, however, trying to put myself in the shoes of a potential consumer and think about what could interest him based on objective criteria and requirements. If until recently I was only indicating reviews that were the result of a collaboration, I recently decided to report even those that are not as such so I inform my readers that in cases where you find among the labels of a post the tag "collaboration" it is a sponsored post or a post for wich the product has been given to me for this purpose and in cases where you will find the tag "no sponsor" or the words that the post is only "the result of my experience as a consumer", it is not a collaboration but simply my testimony.
