Riflettendo sulle differenze insieme ad un premio Pulitzer / Reflecting on differences along a Pulitzer prize winner

Ciao carissimi lettori,
Oggi voglio recensire un libro che non solo ha vinto il premio Pulitzer per la narrativa nel 1961 ma ne fu tratto anche il film omonimo nel 1962. Il libro in questione è "Il buio oltre la siepe" scritto da Harper Lee, insignita anche con la Medaglia presidenziale della libertà dal presidente degli Stati Uniti George W. Bush. Io confesso di aver visto tantissimi anni fa il film "il buio oltre la siepe" anche quello un classico premiato con almeno 3 premi Oscar oltre a tanti altri  riconoscimenti, ed ero rimasta profondamente emozionata e colpita dalla storia e dal modo in cui veniva descritto e raffigurato un caso di razzismo puro. Il film è particolarmente impressionante ma lo è altrettanto il libro ed essendo raccontato dal punto di vista di un bambino, la brutalità e la malignità della gente colpisce ancora di più il lettore. Nonostante l'argomento, questo libro si legge facilmente ed è scorrevole perché è scritto molto bene, con tanto talento come se fosse un'opera d'arte. I personaggi vengono descritti con la giusta cura da poterceli immaginare davanti ai nostri occhi senza però annoiare o stancare. I personaggi principali di questo libro sono: Jean Louise Finch (Scout) che rappresenta la scrittrice, una ragazza ribelle e testarda, suo padre Atticus Finch, un vedovo, avvocato d'ufficio che lavora con tanto cuore cerca di educare i suoi figli a cercare la verità e rispettare l'etica e suo fratello Jem Finch che ammira molto suo padre e vive con fervore e passione i casi di cui quest'ultimo si occupa. Devo menzionare anche Tom Robinson, un bracciante di colore, duro lavoratore, marito e padre di una bella famiglia che viene accusato di violenza sessuale da Mayella Ewell, una ragazza bianca, sola ed emarginata dalla società e suo padre, Bob Ewell, un vero paria della società, furfante e truffatore, un uomo che odia lavorare, manca di rispetto chiunque ed inculca i suoi stessi valori ai suoi tanti figli e figlie.  Altri personaggi cruciali di questo libro sono: Maudie Atkinson, una vera voce della ragione che ci delizia con le sue riflessioni ponderate e frasi ben pensate (che probabilmente rappresenta la figura della scrittrice da adulta), Calpurnia, la cuoca di colore della famiglia Finch, l'unica figura materna che Scout abbia mai avuto e che ama questi bambini come se fossero i suoi, e Dill Harris, l'amico d'infanzia di Scout e Jem che istiga le loro avventure e sprona la loro creatività. Ho letto da qualche parte che Dill raffigura Truman Capote, amico di tutta la vita della scritrice Harper Lee e famoso per aver scritto i romanzi Colazione da Tiffany e A Sangue Freddo. Non posso concludere la descrizione dei personaggi senza parlarvi di Boo Radley, anche lui una vittima della società e della sua famiglia anche. Per quasi tutta la durata del libro veniamo a conoscenza della sua esistenza solo dalle imprese dei tre amici, Scout, Jem e Dill ma alla fine si rivela una vera sorpresa. Il suo altruismo servirà finalmente a svegliare una società ottusa e rimettere a posto l'ago della bilancia. 
Credo che presentando questi personaggi vi abbia già svelato parzialmente la trama di questo romanzo, ma spero lo stesso che vorrete leggere questo libro. Sapete già che non amo fare spoiler e quando si tratta di un libro tanto apprezzato, mi sento però in dovere di fornirvi i dettagli sufficienti per suscitare il vostro interesse. 
Leggendo questo libro sono stata particolarmente colpita dalla metafora del merlo, il titolo del libro in inglese è "to kill a mockingbird", cioè uccidendo un usignolo. Nella traduzione in italiano di questo libro ci si riferisce a questa specie solamente  dal punto di vista di una delle categorie che ne fanno parte di questa specie, cioè i turidi, in particolare il merlo. Il merlo è un uccello che vive in coppia e che si ciba di frutta e soprattutto d'insetti. Viene cacciato incautamente per i piccoli danni che potrebbe recare ai frutteti senza considerare i grossi benefici che l'uomo e gli stessi frutteti traggono dal fatto che questo uccello si ciba di insetti dannosi. Il merlo ha un canto molto bello, allegro, vivace, una vera sinfonia. Atticus, ribadisce diverse volte che uccidere un animale tanto utile quanto gradevole  fosse un peccato, un vero peccato. La traduzione del titolo in italiano, "il buio oltre la siepe" costituisce un'altra metafora. La siepe separa la casa dei Finch da quella dei Radley ed il buio rappresenta l'ignoto e la paura che genera il pregiudizio. Ma a differenza dei bambini che sconfiggono la paura ed il pregiudizio, gli adulti non riescono a farlo con altrettanta facilità. Spero avrete occasione di leggere il libro per confrontarci e scambiare opinioni al riguardo.

Today I want to review a book that not only won the Pulitzer Prize for Narrative in 1961 but also originated a film adaptation with the same name in 1962. The book in question is "To Kill a Mocking Bird" written by Harper Lee, also awarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom from US President George W. Bush. I confess to having seen the film "to kill a mocking bird" many years ago, that also a classic awarded with at least 3 Oscar awards as well as many other awards, and I was deeply moved and impressed by the story and by the way it was described and depicted a case of pure racism. The film is particularly impressive, but so is the book and being narrated from a child's point of view, the ugliness and malice of the people gets to the reader even more. Despite the topic, this book can be read easily and is fluent because it is very well written, with as much talent as if it were a work of art. The characters are described with the right care to allow us imagine them before our eyes without getting bored or tired. The main characters of this book are: Jean Louise Finch (Scout) who represents the writer, a rebellious and stubborn girl, her father Atticus Finch, a widower and a lawyer who works with a lot of heart tries to educate his children to look for the truth and respect ethics and his brother Jem Finch who greatly admires his father and lives with fervor and passion the cases the latter deals. I must also mention Tom Robinson, a black man laborer, hard worker, husband and father of a beautiful family who is accused of sexual assault by Mayella Ewell, a white girl, alone and marginalized by society and her father, Bob Ewell, a true pariah of the society, a villain and a crook, a man who hates to work, disrespects anyone and inculcates his own values to his many sons and daughters. Other crucial characters in this book are: Maudie Atkinson, a true voice of reason that delights us with her thoughtful reflections and well thought out phrases (which probably represents the writer as an adult), Calpurnia, a black the cook with the Finch family, the only mother figure that Scout has ever had and who loves these children as if they were her own, and Dill Harris, Scout's and Jem's childhood friend who instigates their adventures and spurs their creativity. I read somewhere that Dill depicts Truman Capote, a friend of Harper Lee's entire life and famous for writing Tiffany's Breakfast and Cold Blood novels. I can't finish the description of the characters without talking about Boo Radley, also a victim of society and of his family too. For almost the entire duration of the book we learn of its existence only from the ventures of the three friends, Scout, Jem and Dill but in the end it turns out to be a real surprise. His altruism will finally serve to awaken a dull society and reset the balance. 
I believe that by presenting these characters to you I have partially revealed the plot of this novel, but I hope that you will want to read this book all the same. You already know that I don't like spoilers and when it comes to a book so appreciated, I feel I have to give you enough details to arouse your interest.
Reading this book I was particularly struck by the metaphor of the blackbird, the title of the book in English is "to kill a mockingbird", that is killing a blackbird. In the Italian translation of this book we refer to this species only from the point of view of one of the categories that are part of this specie, namely the turids, in particular the blackbird. The blackbird is a bird that lives in pairs and feeds on fruit and above all insects. It is hunted incautiously and carelessly for the small damages that it could bring to the orchards without considering the great benefits that the man and the fruit trees have from the fact that this bird feeds on harmful insects. The blackbird has a very beautiful song, cheerful, lively, a true symphony. Atticus, reiterates several times that killing an animal that is useful as it is pleasant, was a sin, a real shame. The translation of the title into Italian, "the darkness beyond the hedge" is another metaphor. The hedge separates the house of the Finch from that of the Radleys and the darkness represents the unknown and the fear that generates the prejudice. But unlike children who defeat fear and prejudice, adults can't do it just as easily. I hope you will have the opportunity to read the book so that we can confront and exchange opinions.

Ricordi di un'estate febbrile e parsimoniosa / Memories of a hectic and thrifty summer

Ho sempre condiviso con voi sui social e sul blog frammenti delle mie vacanze ma stavolta ho deciso di raccontarvi la mia vacanza estiva in un modo diverso, con immagini, con parole, con sentimenti. Molti anni fa ho vissuto un' esperienza che ha cambiato il mio modo di vedere e vivere la vita e da quel momento in poi ho cercato di godermi ogni momento e inseguire la gioia, il piacere, la spensieratezza, l'unicità e il meglio in qualunque cosa. Chiamatelo "joie de vivre" se volete ma io lo chiamo vivere la vita con consapevolezza e positività. 
Certo non possiamo avere sempre quello che vogliamo, ma possiamo sempre fare il meglio di quello che abbiamo quindi ecco come ho fatto io del mio meglio. Visto che ho una condizione che mi crea dei seri problemi quando fa caldo, ho scelto di passeggiare sul lungo mare alle prime ore del mattino e godermi l'aria fresca e il profumo del mare in tutta tranquillità. Ho fatto delle lunghe passeggiate la sera tardi sempre in buona compagnia per poi svegliarmi tardi il giorno dopo e restare a casa a godermi un brunch e un aperitivo improvvisato. 
Ho scelto di passare le giornate sotto l'ombrellone leggendo dei buoni libri e seguendo il vissuto delle persone sulla carta o davanti a me come in un film. Ho scelto con cura i libri, ognuno di essi essendo un libro vissuto, premiato, un libro degno di essere letto almeno una volta nella vita perché sono tirchia con il mio tempo e odio sprecarlo su momenti e cose futili. Ho scelto posti nuovi e inconsueti per vivere esperienze mai vissute fino a quel momento come rinfrescarmi sotto uno gazebo che ti avvolge in un pulviscolo fitto e soffice di piccole particele d'acqua. Ho scelto di visitare città sconosciute e posti nuovi nelle giornate di nuvolo e scattare tante foto per ricordarmi ogni istante come in una cronologia a prova di demenza. 
Ho letto tante, troppe recensioni su tripadvisor e su google maps per scegliere i posti migliori dove gustare dei ottimi piatti, fantastici drinks e gustosissimi snack andando sempre a segno, risparmiando insoddisfazioni ed evitando di sprecare soldi e mancare dei momenti di puro piacere gustativo. 
Ho scelto di indossare tanti colori intensi, pieni di vita che riflettano la mia voglia di vivere e il mio animo ribelle e irrequieto. Ho scelto di cambiare acconciature e provare cose diverse e magari strane che forse non si addicevano sempre al mio look e al mio outfit ma l'ho fatto perché lo volevo in quel momento e non avevo paura di provare cose nuove. 
Ho cercato di evitare le persone che disturbavano il mio modo di essere per dare più attenzioni a coloro che si meritavano una parola di conforto, una risata o magari un abbraccio sincero. Ho scelto di fare al meglio di ogni momento e trarre il massimo da ogni esperienza. Perché? Perché sono tirchia con la mia energia e non la voglio sprecare su cose che non mi daranno soddisfazione e non mi permetteranno di crescere in qualche modo! Voi che mi dite? Vi va di raccontarmi come avete passato il vostro estate ma soprattutto vi ritrovate nella mia parsimonia esperienziale?

I have always shared with you on the social media and on the blog fragments of my holidays but this time I decided to tell you about my summer vacation in a different way, with images, words, feelings. Many years ago I lived an experience that changed my way of seeing and living life and from that moment on I tried to enjoy every moment and pursue joy, pleasure, light-heartedness, uniqueness and the best in every thing. Call it "joie de vivre" if you want but I call it living life with awareness and positivity. 
Of course we can't always have what we want, but we can always do the best of what we have so this is how I did my best. Since I have a condition that creates serious problems on hot weather, I chose to walk along the beach early in the morning and enjoy the fresh air and the scent of the sea in complete tranquility. I took long walks late at night, always in good company, and then woke up late the next day and stayed home to enjoy a brunch and an improvised aperitif. 
I chose to spend my days under the umbrella reading good books and following the lives of people on paper or in front of me like in a movie. I have carefully chosen the books, each one of them being a book lived, rewarded, a book worthy of being read at least once in a lifetime because I am so stingy with my time and I hate waisting it on useless moments and trivial things. I chose new and unusual places to live experiences that had never been lived up to that moment, such as cooling down under a gazebo that envelops you in a dense, soft fog of small water particles. 
I chose to visit unknown cities and new places on cloudy days and take lots of photos to remind me of every moment as in a dementia-proof chronology. 
I have read many, too many reviews on tripadvisor and on google maps to choose the best places where to enjoy excellent dishes, fantastic drinks and delicious snacks always going to sign, saving dissatisfaction and avoiding wasting money and missing moments of gustatory pleasure. I chose to wear so many intense colors, full of life that reflect my desire to live and my rebellious and restless soul. I chose to change hairstyles and try different and somewhat strange things that maybe didn't always suit my look and my outfit but I did it because I wanted it at that moment and I wasn't afraid to try new things. 
I tried to avoid people who disturbed my way of being in order to give more attention to those who deserved a word of comfort, a laugh or maybe a sincere hug. I have chosen to do my best of every moment and to make the most of every experience. Why? Because I am tightfisted with my energy and I do not want to waste it on things that will not give me satisfaction and will not allow me to grow in some way! What about you? Togliti le preoccupazioni make-up di dosso / Wipe your makeup worries away

Carissimi lettori,
Oggi riesco finalmente a parlarvi di un prodotto che uso continuamente e con grande soddisfazione da diversi anni ormai. Per qualche motivo non sono mai riuscita a recensirlo e a parlare sul mio blog probabilmente perché non avevo mai l'urgenza di scattare le foto visto che comunque sapevo che lo avrei ricomprato. Il prodotto di cui voglio parlare oggi sono le "Salviettine umidificate struccanti 3 in 1" del marchio Risparmio casa. Comincio dicendovi che l'ho scoperto per caso mentre testavo altri prodotti simili dello stesso marchio e di altri marchi. Devo dirvi che anche se il marchio Risparmio Casa è riconosciuto soprattutto per i prodotti per la pulizia della casa ci sono alcuni prodotti skin care molto buoni dal mio punto di vista. Non sono stata contattata in nessun modo e non ho alcun accordo con il marchio o con le persone che ci lavorano per scrivere questo articolo. La condivisione di questa recensione ha la base il mio desiderio di condividere una valutazione onesta di questo prodotto. 
Cominciamo con una breve presentazione in base alle informazioni disponibili dal produttore. La confezione contiene 60 salviettine umidificate arricchite con bisabololo, Vitamina E e Provitamina B5 per la pulizia del viso e degli occhi. Contiene anche estratti di Echinacea e Achillea. Le salviettine sono testate dermatologicamente e oftalmologicamente e sostituiscono il latte detergente, il tonico e la crema assicurando una profonda ed efficace pulizia del viso donando anche una piacevole sensazione di freschezza. Grazie alla confezione con tappo richiudibile è possibile preservare a lungo l'umidità. 

Packaging: una confezione richiudibile con tappo molto pratica per l'uso quotidiano. Esiste anche la versione mini per i viaggi che purtroppo almeno nei negozi che frequento io non è sempre disponibile.

Prezzo: intorno ai 2 euro in base a sconti e promozioni

Opinione personale: Come avevo già detto all'inizio di questo post, questo è uno dei miei prodotti cosmetici preferiti e se parliamo della pulizia e la detersione del viso il mio preferito in assoluto. Le salviettine sono ben umidificate e tolgono facilmente anche il mascara e l''eyeliner. Con altri prodotti simili non ho avuto lo stesso risultato, o dovevo sfregare parecchio per rimuovere il mascara lasciandomi occhi irritati oppure non erano umidificati abbastanza neanche per la detersione del viso. Queste salviettine invece permettono di rimuovere il trucco con poche mosse, senza sfregare o irritare la pelle e gli occhi. Hanno un profumo piacevole di pulito e nelle sere che tornavo stanca a casa e non avevo voglia di seguire la routine serale completa, mi bastavano queste salviette per pulire e idratare fino a l'indomani la mia pelle. Nel mio caso non hanno mai irritato gli occhi. Il tessuto è soffice e piacevole al tatto. Una precisazione molto importante: le salviettine non vanno buttate nel WC. Sulla confezione abbiamo il logo Made in Italy e mi fa piacere sapere di usare prodotti realizzati in questo paese. Come è possibile vedere anche dall'INCI le salviettine contengono estratto di Achillea ed estratto di radice di Echinacea, piante riconosciute per le loro proprietà cicatrizzanti e antinfiammatorie e per l'azione antibiotica e batteriostatica. 

PRO: risultati molto efficaci, non causa irritazione, rimuove anche il mascara e l'eyeliner, buon INCI e ottimo rapporto qualità - prezzo

CONTRO: nessuno

Conclusione: consiglio questo prodotto alle persone che preferiscono le salviettine umidificate per la rimozione del trucco e solitamente la sera non hanno tempo per seguire la routine serale, usare il latte detergente, tonico e la crema viso. Consiglio questo prodotto a coloro che cercano delle salviettine umidificate per la rimozione del mascara e dell'eyeliner.

Today I can finally tell you about a product I use continuously and with great satisfaction for several years now. For some reason I have never been able to review it and to talk about it on my blog probably because I never had the urgency to take pictures because I knew I would buy it back anyway. The product I want to talk to you about today is the "3 in 1 make-up remover wet wipes" from the Risparmio Casa brand. I begin by telling you that I discovered it by accident while testing other similar products of the same brand and other brands. I must tell you that even if the Risparmio Casa brand is recognized above all for household cleaning products, they also produce some very good skin care products from my point of view. I have not been contacted in any way and I have no agreement with the brand or the people who work for this brand to write this article. Sharing this review is based on my desire to share an honest evaluation of this product.
Let's start with a brief presentation based on information available from the manufacturer. The pack contains 60 wet wipes enriched with bisabolol, Vitamin E and Provitamin B5 for face and eye cleansing. It also contains extracts of Echinacea and Yarrow plants. The wipes are dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested and replace the cleansing milk, tonic and cream ensuring a deep and effective cleansing of the face, also giving a pleasant sensation of freshness. Thanks to the resealable packaging it is possible to preserve moisture for a long time.

Packaging: a resealable pack with a very practical cap for everyday use. There is also a mini version for travel that unfortunately is not always available in the shops I usually frequent.

Personal opinion: As I said at the beginning of this post, this is one of my favorite cosmetic products and when talking about cleansing products, is my absolute favorite. These wipes are well moistened and they can also remove easily mascara and eyeliner. With other similar products I did not have the same result, or I had to scrape a lot to remove the mascara leaving me irritated eyes or they weren't humidified enough even for facial cleansing. These wipes, on the other hand, allow you to remove make-up with a few moves, without rubbing or irritating the skin and eyes. They have a pleasant clean scent and in the evenings when I came home tired and I didn't want to follow the full evening routine, these wipes are enough to clean and moisturize my skin until the next day. I have never had problems of irritated eyes. The fabric is soft and pleasant to the touch. A very important clarification: the wipes should not be thrown away in the WC. On the package we have the Made in Italy logo and I am pleased to know that I use products made in this country.
