Flatlandia di Edwin Abbott Abbott - recensione letteraria / Flatland by Edwin Abbott Abbott - book review

 

Carissimi lettori,

Nel post di oggi recensirò il libro Flatlandia (Flatland titolo originale) dello scrittore, matematico, teologo e pedagogista britannico Edwin Abbott Abbott. Nacque nel 1838 a Marylebone in una famiglia della media aristocrazia, i suoi genitori erano cugini di primo grado, perciò anche il cognome Abbott Abbott, o come a lui piaceva segnarsi, Abbott². Prese i voti di sacerdote della Chiesa Anglicana nel 1862 e per la prima parte della sua vita, l’autore si dedicò all’insegnamento che abbandonò definitivamente nel 1889 per occuparsi della scrittura ed approfondire i suoi studi. Scrisse più di quaranta libri, dalle opere teologiche, ai manuali scolastici, alle biografie, sino all'opera per cui oggi è maggiormente noto, e che oggi recensirò per voi, Flatlandia. Pubblicata nel 1884 con lo pseudonimo A Square, Flatlandia è un romanzo fantascientifico che narra la vita di un abitante in un ipotetico universo bidimensionale che entra in contatto con l'abitante di un universo tridimensionale.

L’autore divide il racconto in due parti, la prima parte descrive il mondo bidimensionale dove il nostro personaggio, un quadrato, abita e vive e nella seconda parte, lo scrittore descrive l’incontro del nostro personaggio con una sfera che le rivela l’esistenza di una terza dimensione. Come potete già immaginare, il mondo bidimensionale, dove abita il nostro personaggio è un mondo piatto, rigido, i personaggi si muovono solo su un unico piano, e sono divisi in categorie strette ricollegabili alla loro forma. Prima di conoscere la sfera, il nostro quadrato incontra il monarca di linealandia, un mondo dove i personaggi si possono muovere solo in avanti e possono vedere solo chi hanno di fronte e nonostante abbia faticato a spiegare al monarca l’esistenza di flatlandia, un mondo che permetteva il movimento in più direzioni sullo stesso piano, l’apparizione della sfera sconcerta il nostro quadrato, restio, come il monarca d’altronde ad accettare che lo spazio e l’universo comprendessero altre dimensioni oltre a quelle da loro conosciute. Una volta accettata la presenza della sfera e scoperto un mondo tridimensionale nuovo, nel nostro personaggio nasce una vera sete di conoscenza ed inizia ad ipotizzare, per analogia, una quarta dimensione, che, come nei casi precedenti, si scontra con il rifiuto grave della sfera, in questo caso, la creatura superiore, manifestazione comune di ogni essere, che in assenza di prove tangibili, non può accettare di non essere l’apice dell’evoluzione e di non conoscere tutta la verità.

Questo breve romanzo è una deliziosa satira allegorica della società inglese del fine ottocento, l’autore descrivendo infatti Flatlandia come una società rigidamente divisa in gerarchie, suddivisione basata sull'aspetto fisico, nello specifico, sul numero di lati che formano le figure. Nel mondo di Flatlandia un maggior numero di lati, quindi un angolo più largo, viene associato a maggior intelligenza, perciò a scuole migliori e in seguito a lavori migliori, di maggior responsabilità ed in conclusione una posizione migliore nella società. In questo mondo non si può sperare in un'ascesa sociale personale in quanto la forma determina le capacità e qualità ma solo eventualmente un’ascesa della prole, che sviluppando ad ogni generazione un lato in più, avrà la possibilità anche di migliorare la propria posizione sociale. Uno speciale spazio viene riservato alle donne che in quell'universo sono delle linee (oppure punti, nel mondo lineandese), perciò limitate, senza abilità intellettuali e dotate solo di capacità emozionali, assistenziali ed empatiche. Esse sono paragonate ai bambini e vanno perennemente protetti dal mondo esterno. Quando al quadrato viene rivelato il fatto che un alto il livello di società è correlato ad un altresì alto livello di empatia e perciò ad un abbassamento dei concetti e valori materiali, il negazionismo del quadrato non viene sconfitto nemmeno quando viene assillato dall’entusiamo della scoperta o la sete di conoscere, spiegando dunque l’esistenza di preconcetti misogini e razzisti anche fra i luminari di un’epoca. Sono tante le problematiche discusse in questo romanzo, problematiche pertinenti non solo all’epoca vittoriana ma presenti anche nei tempi odierni, soprattutto le limitazioni imposte alle donne in certe aree geografiche, il peso accordato ai valori materiali, la manipolazione attraverso informazioni errate o scarse, lo scoppio e la repressione dei conflitti oppure l’autorevolezza indiscussa accordata a certi capi anche nella società contemporanea. Le implicazioni sociologiche, filosofiche e pedagogiche sono innumerevoli, anche se formulate in un modo estroso ed eclettico perciò considero che questo romanzo non faccia per chiunque. Io stessa ho sospeso la lettura del romanzo ad un certo punto e confesso che la prima parte del romanzo essendo limitata al mondo bidimensionale ed io non una grande intenditrice e simpatizzante della matematica, mi sono trovata in stallo prima di arrivare al capitolo dedicato alla rivoluzione.

Aggiungo soltanto il fatto che nonostante non avesse ricevuto una grande accoglienza all’epoca essendo stampato solo in un paio di edizioni, la sua fama si concretizza dopo la divulgazione della teoria della relatività di Albert Einstein quando l’ipotetica quarta dimensione viene scoperta e teorizzata. Dal punto di vista letterario, Flatlandia può essere visto come un predecessore del romanzo distopico moderno.

In today's post I will review the book Flatland by the British writer, mathematician, theologian and pedagogue Edwin Abbott Abbott. He was born in 1838 in Marylebone in a middle-class family, his parents were first cousins, hence the surname Abbott Abbott, or as he liked to sign himself, Abbott². He took vows as a priest of the Anglican Church in 1862 and for the first part of his life, the author devoted himself to teaching which he definitively abandoned in 1889 to devote himself to writing and deepen his studies. He wrote more than forty books, from theological works, to school manuals, to biographies, up to the work for which he is best known today, and which I will review for you today, Flatland. Published in 1884 under the pseudonym A Square, Flatland is a science fiction novel that narrates the life of an inhabitant of a hypothetical two-dimensional universe who comes into contact with an inhabitant of a three-dimensional universe.

The author divides the story into two parts, the first part describes the two-dimensional world where our character, a square, inhabits and lives and in the second part where the writer describes the encounter of our character with a sphere that reveals the existence of a third dimension. As you can already imagine, the two-dimensional world, where our character lives is a flat, rigid world, the characters move only on a single plane, and are divided into narrow categories linked to their shape. Before knowing the sphere, our square meets the monarch of flatland, a world where the characters can only move forward and can only see who is in front of them and despite having struggled to explain to the monarch the existence of flatland, a world that allowed movement in multiple directions on the same plane, the appearance of the sphere disconcerts our square, reluctant, like the monarch, to accept that space and the universe included other dimensions beyond those known to them. Once the presence of the sphere has been accepted and a new three-dimensional world has been discovered, a real thirst for knowledge arises in our character and he begins to hypothesize, by analogy, a fourth dimension, which, as in previous cases, clashes with the serious refusal of the sphere, in this case, the superior creature, common manifestation of every being, which in the absence of tangible evidence, cannot accept not being the pinnacle of evolution and not knowing the whole truth.

This short novel is a delightful allegorical satire of late nineteenth-century English society, the author describing Flatland as a society rigidly divided into hierarchies, a subdivision based on physical appearance, specifically, on the number of sides that form the figures. In the world of Flatland, a greater number of sides, therefore a wider angle, is associated with greater intelligence, therefore with better schools and subsequently with better jobs, with greater responsibility and ultimately a better position in society. In this world, one cannot hope for a personal social ascent because the form determines the abilities and qualities as the only possibly ascension being that of the offspring, who by developing an additional side with each generation, will also have the possibility of improving their social position. A special space is reserved for women who in that universe are lines (or points, in the lineandes world), therefore limited, without intellectual abilities and equipped only with emotional, assistance and empathic abilities. They are compared to children and must be perpetually protected from the outside world. When the square is revealed to the fact that a high level of society is correlated to an equally high level of empathy and therefore to a lowering of material concepts and values, the denialism of the square is not defeated even when it is besieged by the enthusiasm of discovery or the thirst for knowledge, thus explaining the existence of misogynistic and racist preconceptions even among the luminaries of an era. There are many issues discussed in this novel, issues pertinent not only to the Victorian era but also present in today's times, especially the limitations imposed on women in certain geographical areas, the weight given to material values, manipulation through incorrect or scarce information, the outbreak and repression of conflicts or the undisputed authority granted to certain leaders even in contemporary society. The sociological, philosophical and pedagogical implications are innumerable, even if formulated in a whimsical and eclectic way so I consider that this novel is not for everyone. I myself stopped reading the novel at a certain point and I confess that the first part of the novel being limited to the two-dimensional world and me not being a great connoisseur and sympathizer of mathematics, I found myself at a standstill before getting to the chapter dedicated to the revolution.

I will only add that although it did not receive a great reception at the time, being printed in only a couple of editions, its fame materializes after the popularization of Albert Einstein's theory of relativity when the hypothetical fourth dimension is discovered and theorized. From a literary point of view, Flatland can be seen as a predecessor of the modern dystopian novel.

Purtroppo anche questo post arriva in ritardo, sto cercando di recuperare ma ci vorrà un po' per arrivare al pari con il mese in corso ma ce la metterò tutta anche se dovrò pubblicare più post del genere in un mese. 

I prodotti finiti questo mese e di cui non vi ho ancora parlato o dei quali vorrei condividere alcuni trucchetti sono: Bagnodoccia Vaniglia Nera di Bottega Verde,  Spray Corpo Peach Velvet di Avon, CC Cream alla Centella Asiatica di Erborian nella colorazione Clair e Mascara Longoeur del marchio Yves Rocher.

Unfortunately, this post is also late. I'm trying to catch up, but it will take a while to catch up with the current month, but I'll do my best even if I'll have to publish several posts like this in a month.

The products I finished this month and that I haven't told you about yet or that I would like to share some tricks about are: Black Vanilla Shower Gel by Bottega Verde, Peach Velvet Body Spray by Avon, Centella Asiatica CC Cream by Erborian in the shade Clair and Longoeur Mascara by Yves Rocher.

Bagnodoccia Vaniglia Nera Bottega Verde

IT: Questo bagnodoccia  è un prodotto con una profumazione delicata e neutrale adatto a tutta la famiglia, indipendentemente dal sesso. Ha una consistenza gel e un colore marrone ambrato. Leggendo la parola vaniglia nel titolo, uno possa pensare che sia un prodotto con una fragranza molto dolce ma in realtà,  questo bagnodoccia ha fragranza misteriosa, calda ed elegante. La lista degli ingredienti non è molto green ma,in generale il prodotto mi piace perché fa tanta schiuma, lava bene e lascia una fragranza sulla pelle che dura per un paio di ore. Il prezzo è di 5,99 € ma molto spesso si trova in un pacco con altre due fragranze dallo stesso format, ad un prezzo promozionale di 10,99. Inoltre, la confezione contiene 400 ml, perciò non è travel friendly ma ha un buon rapporto qualità-quantità / prezzo. Se dovessi dare un voto soggettivo, sarebbe un 7. 

Bottega Verde Black Vanilla Shower Gel

ENG: This shower gel has a delicate, neutral scent, suitable for the whole family, regardless of gender. It has a gel consistency and an amber brown color. The word vanilla in the title might make you think it's a very sweet product, but in reality, this shower gel has a mysterious, warm, and elegant fragrance. The ingredient list isn't particularly eco-friendly, but overall, I like the product because it lathers well, cleanses well, and leaves a lasting fragrance on the skin for a couple of hours. It costs €5.99, but it's often found in a pack with two other fragrances in the same size, at a promotional price of €10.99. Furthermore, the bottle contains 400 ml, so it's not travel-friendly, but it offers good value for money. If I had to give it a subjective rating, it would be a 7.

Spray Corpo Peach Velvet di Avon

IT: prima di tutto devo specificare che adoro usare questo tipo di prodotto durante l'estate ei mesi caldi in genere perché assicura una buona profumazione alla pelle senza ungere o sciogliersi come succede con creme e lozioni corpo. Non sono sicura che questo spray sia ancora in vendita, io l'ho avuto aperto credo per due anni perché mi piace alternare le profumazioni e perciò avevo più prodotti della stessa categoria aperti. Nonostante ciò, lo spray ha conservato la sua profumazione quando veniva nebulizzato ma, come anche altri prodotti del genere, dello stesso brand e non solo, la durata della fragranza sulla pelle si limita ad un paio di orette. La confezione ergonomica che contiene 100 ml, lo rende travel friendly e facile da trasportare nella borsa anche durante la giornata. Non è il migliore spray corpo ma questa profumazione era una delle mie preferite e considerando che ho sempre acquistato questi spray in promozione a prezzi fra 1,50 e 3€ (gli ultimissimi che sto ancora usando) considero che abbia un buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Voto soggettivo: 8.5

Avon Peach Velvet Body Spray

ENG: First of all, I must say that I love using this type of product during the summer and the warmer months in general because it ensures a nice scent on the skin without being greasy or melting like body creams and lotions. I'm not sure if this spray is still available, I've had it open for, I think, two years because I like to alternate scents and therefore had several products in the same category open. Despite this, the spray retained its scent when sprayed, but like other similar products, from the same brand and others, the fragrance only lasts a couple of hours on the skin. The ergonomic packaging containing 100 ml makes it travel friendly and easy to carry in your bag even during the day. It's not the best body spray, but this scent was one of my favorites, and considering that I've always purchased these sprays on sale for between €1.50 and €3 (the very last ones I'm still using), I consider it good value. Subjective rating: 8.5

CC cream centella Asiatica di Erborian

IT: Di questa CC cream vi ho parlato di recente in un post sia sul blog vedi QUI sia su Instagram e rimane la mia CC cream preferita. È un po' costosa, soprattutto per un contenuto di 15 ml (un po' più di 20€), nel formato 40 ml,  più del doppio, sembra più conveniente ma, non tutto e rose e fiori. La confezione, dal mio punto di vista, non permette di spremere tutto il contenuto. Dopo averla spremuta in tutti i modi che conosco, finisco sempre per tagliarla e potete vedere anche voi quanto prodotto rimane e sarebbe stato altrimenti buttato. Siccome questo CC cream cambia colore al contatto con la pelle e anche con l'aria, ho conservato la parte finale della confezione in un piccolo contenitore per evitare che si seccasse o si rovinasse. Questa tecnica va bene solo dopo aver spremuto molto il tubicino o altrimenti, si deteriora se troppo prodotto rimane a contatto con aria, luce o calore. Ho provato la stessa tecnica su un tubo di 40 ml e purtroppo ho dovuto buttare prodotto sufficiente almeno per altre 6 o 7 applicazioni. Vi ricordo che questa CC cream copre benissimo e non richiede grandi quantità per risultati ottimali. La quantità recuperata dall'interno del tubo e quella che vedete in quel piccolo vasetto mi è bastata per altre 3 applicazioni perciò, se non amate lo spreco o siete attenti alle somme spese sui cosmetici, questa tecnica potrebbe essere una buona soluzione. Non vi parlo nuovamente del prodotto perché odio ripetermi ma aggiungo solo che il mio voto soggettivo è un 9 solo perché la confezione non permette di usare completamente il prodotto, altrimenti avrei assegnato con tutto il cuore un 10.

Centella Asiatica CC Cream by Erborian

ENG: I recently talked about this CC cream in a blog post (see HERE) and on Instagram, and it remains my favorite. It's a bit pricey, especially for a 15 ml tube (a little over €20). The 40 ml tube, more than double the price, seems more affordable, but it's not all plain sailing. The packaging, in my opinion, doesn't allow for full squeezing. After squeezing it in every way I know, I always end up cutting it, and you can see for yourself how much product remains that would otherwise have been thrown away. Since this CC cream changes color upon contact with skin and even air, I stored the bottom of the container in a small container to prevent it from drying out or ruining. This technique is only effective after squeezing the tube thoroughly, otherwise, it will deteriorate if too much product is left in contact with air, light, or heat. I tried the same technique on a 40 ml tube and unfortunately had to throw away enough product for at least another 4 or 5 applications. I remind you that this CC cream covers very well and doesn't require a lot for optimal results. The amount recovered from inside the tube and what you see in that small jar was enough for another 3 applications, so if you don't like waste or are careful about how much you spend on cosmetics, this technique could be a good solution. I won't talk about the product again because I hate repeating myself, but I'll just add that my subjective rating is a 9 only because the packaging doesn't allow for full use of the product, otherwise I would have wholeheartedly given it a 10.

Mascara Longoeur Yves Rocher

Anche questo prodotto, al momento non è più commercializzato, quando ho saputo che sarebbe stato ritirato, ho comprato le ultime due confezioni rimanenti nel negozio usando la cartolina con due sconti del 40%.  Mi rendo conto di non aver recensito finora il prodotto e mi rammarico ma quale posto migliore dove spiegare la mia esperienza se non un post dedicato ai prodotti finiti? Questo mascara è il mio preferito, ovviamente per la qualità del mascara ma soprattutto per lo scovolino che separa e allunga le ciglia per un risultato sensazionale. Siccome la qualità dei mascara è più o meno la stessa, ho avuto l'idea di scambiare gli scovolini e dunque applicare un altro mascara con lo scovolino longoeur. Come potete vedere, lo scovolino Longoeur è sottile, affusolato e molto più appuntito, riuscendo grazie a questa forma a distribuire il mascara su tutte le ciglia, anche quelle più corte, partendo dalla base per un risultato più definito. Quello che sto cercando di dire è che userò questo scovolino anche per applicare altri mascara sostiendolo una volta aperta una nuova confezione e gettando via lo scovolino con il quale è dotato il nuovo mascara. Praticamente, questo tubo di mascara Longoeur finito è stato buttato insieme allo scovolino del mascara Volume e mi auguro che gli scovolini Longoeur rimanenti abbiano vita lunga o almeno finché trovo un altro mascara che soddisfi anche i criteri applicatore. Avete mai provato a fare cose simili? Il mio voto soggettivo per questo mascara è 10 e lode! 

Longoeur Mascara by Yves Rocher

This product is also currently discontinued. When I learned it would be recalled, I bought the last two remaining packages in the store using the postcard with two 40% discounts. I realize I haven't reviewed the product yet, and I'm sorry, but what better place to share my experience than a post about the finished products? This mascara is my favorite, obviously for the quality of the mascara but especially for the brush that separates and lengthens the lashes for sensational results. Since the quality of the mascaras is more or less the same, I had the idea of ​​swapping the brushes and applying another mascara with the longoeur brush. As you can see, the Longoeur brush is thin, tapered, and much more pointed. This shape allows it to distribute the mascara evenly across the lashes, even the shortest ones, starting from the base for a more defined result. What I'm trying to say is that I will also use this brush to apply other mascaras, holding it back after opening a new bottle and throwing away the brush that comes with the new mascara. Basically, this finished tube of Longoeur mascara was thrown away along with the Volume mascara wand and I hope that the remaining Longoeur wands will have a long life or at least until I find another mascara that also meets the applicator criteria. Have you ever tried something similar? My subjective rating for this mascara is 10 out of 10!

Shampoo Trattante Antiforfora con menta piperita bio di Yves Rocher - recensione prodotto / Yves Rocher Anti-Dandruff Treatment Shampoo with Organic Peppermint - Product Review

Ciao carissimi, 

Oggi vi parlerò dello shampoo che uso con soddisfazione da circa un anno. Si tratta dello Shampoo Trattante Antiforfora con menta piperita bio del marchio francese Yves Rocher. La prima volta quando ho provato lo shampoo, lo ricevuto gratuitamente con l'acquisto di uno shampoo per mio marito in una promozione 2 al prezzo di uno. Visto che mi sono trovata benissimo con questo prodotto, l'ho acquistato ancora e ancora e in diverse occasioni ho beneficiato della promozione 2 al prezzo di uno perciò questa recensione è in parte una recensione da consumatore ma è anche la recensione di prodotti regalati. Al momento lo shampoo trattante antiforfora è l'unico shampoo che uso.

Informazioni dal produttore: contenente 94% ingredienti di origine naturale e arricchito con Menta Piperita Biologica de La Gacilly, ed estratto di buccia di melograno, questo shampoo deterge delicatamente, purifica il cuoio capelluto, elimina la forfora, prevenendo la recidiva. La sua formula vegana dimezza la quantità di forfora e la dimensione delle squame eliminando il fastidio al cuoio capelluto. 

Packaging: confezione in plastica di colore verde scuro con tappo disck top che contiene 300 ml di prodotto 

Prezzo: 6,95€ o $7.99 ma come già precisato è spesso disponibile in format 2 a prezzo di uno o in altri pacchetti promozionali

Consistenza: in gel relativamente densa

Valutazione personale: come si evince dall'introduzione di questo articolo, questo prodotto è diventato il mio shampoo preferito e addirittura l'unico shampoo che uso al momento. Sin dal primo utilizzo ho notato che produce una buona quantità di schiuma, deterge i capelli ed il cuoio capelluto molto bene già con una sola lavata sprigionando una fragranza fresca ed energizzante che persiste per alcuni giorni. Ho sempre avuto problemi di forfora e squame del cuoio capelluto e molto spesso irritazione e prurito ma con questo shampoo questi problemi si sono sensibilmente ridotti e la situazione si mantiene invariata da quasi un anno. Più ravvicinati sono i momenti in cui mi faccio lavare i capelli, migliori e più duraturi sono i risultati. Come potete vedere ho una piccola scorta, fatta grazie alla promozione due a prezzo di uno, promozione che garantisce un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo ma finché avrò gli stessi risultati, comprerò lo shampoo anche fuori promozioni e a prezzo pieno. Nonostante fosse un trattamento per la forfora, lo shampoo rende i capelli setosi e luminosi ma per districarli e renderli più facili da pettinare consiglio di usare anche un balsamo o una maschera per capelli. È un prodotto unisex e pertanto può essere usato da tutta la famiglia. Decisamente consigliato!

PRO: ottima detersione, fa schiuma con quantità modice di prodotto, riduce visibilmente la forfora e ne impedisce la recidiva, prodotto realizzato con 94% ingredienti naturali, non contiene solfati e siliconi, la confezione è realizzata con plastica 100% riciclata, buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. 

CONTRO: nessuno

Conclusione: consiglio questo prodotto alle persone che avendo problemi di forfora non vogliono rinunciare anche ad una buona cura dei capelli e anche alle persone che nonostante non abbiano problemi di forfora cerchino una sensazione di freschezza e benessere.

Personal evaluation: as you can see from the introduction to this article, this product has become my favorite shampoo and even the only shampoo I use currently. From the first use, I noticed that it produces a good amount of foam, cleanses my hair and scalp very well with just one wash, and releases a fresh and energizing fragrance that lingers for several days. I've always had problems with dandruff and flaky scalp, and very often irritation and itching, but with this shampoo, these problems have significantly reduced and the situation has remained unchanged for almost a year. The closer together I wash my hair, the better and longer-lasting the results. As you can see, I have a small stash, thanks to the two-for-one promotion, a promotion that guarantees excellent value, but as long as I get the same results, I will buy the shampoo even outside of promotions and at full price. Even though it was a dandruff treatment, the shampoo makes hair silky and shiny, but to detangle it and make it easier to comb, I recommend using a conditioner or hair mask as well. It's a unisex product and therefore can be used by the whole family. Highly recommended!

PROS: excellent cleansing, foams with a small amount of product, visibly reduces dandruff and prevents its recurrence, product made with 94% natural ingredients, free of sulfates and silicones, packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, good value.

CONS: none

Conclusion: I recommend this product to people who, despite having dandruff problems, don't want to give up good hair care, and also to people who, despite not having dandruff problems, are looking for a feeling of freshness and well-being.

Una festa in nero di Alice Basso - recensione di libro / A party in black by Alice Basso - book review

 

Ciao carissimi lettori,

Oggi recensirò Una festa in nero, l’ultimo libro della saga il cui personaggio principale è la graziosa dattilografa Anita Bo della scrittrice italiana Alice Basso. Se fino adesso non ero del tutto convinta che il personaggio principale fosse Anita in quanto la presenza marcata di Sebastiano mi facesse pensare sempre a due personaggi principali, dopo aver letto questo romanzo ho capito che Sebastiano “Satta Coso” era in realtà un personaggio di supporto per Anita e che è letteralmente lei la figura che muove tutti gli ingranaggi di questa storia. Inoltre, mi sono convinta ancora di più che Anita Bo è l’alter ego della nostra scrittrice e quando arriverete al capitolo finale di questo affascinante romanzo di 315 pagine (compresa la postfazione che adoro leggere sempre), vi convincerete anche voi di questo aspetto.

Le vicende narrate in questo romanzo si sviluppano a poche settimane dal matrimonio pianificato (e non più desiderato) fra Anita ed il suo fidanzato ufficiale, Corrado Leone. La storia di amore fra Anita ed il suo capo, lo scrittore, traduttore e giornalista, Sebastiano Satta Ascona, è in pieno sviluppo e occupa la maggior parte della trama di questo libro. A mettere in crisi Sebastiano, che cerca una modalità diplomatica con un certo fare di cavalliere di altri tempi e Anita che sogna ad imprevisti che possano annullare i loro matrimoni con i reciproci fidanzati per poter vivere la loro storia d’amore, è la comparsa di alcuni membri di un servizio onnipresente all’epoca, l’OVRA, ovvero l’Opera Vigilanza o Volontaria Repressione Antifascismo e in parole povere, la milizia fascista. All’inizio l’OVRA si presenta solo nella persona di un omino senza nome e riconoscibile per il suo impermeabile beige ma presto scopriremo che i suoi tentacoli si sono infiltrati e hanno accaparrato seggi in vista delle organizzazioni più rilevanti del paese. L’intento dell’omino “Beige”, che più tardi scopriremo si chiami Nello Pastina, e del servizio OVRA, era quello di reclutare Sebastiano Satta Ascona fra i loro membri, come d’altronde OVRA lo fece realmente con altri membri della categoria, per spiare ed aiutare all’arresto con prove fasulle, membri di alto livello della società non grati al regime di Mussolini. Visto il fatto che Sebastiano ha come dattilografa una delle pupille di Candida Fiorio, una suffragette, nubile e non più in età per procreare e contribuire al bene della patria, nonché sospettata di essere omossessuale e perciò di corrompere le ragazze con cui entra in contatto nel suo lavoro e nelle attività di volontariato preso la ONMI (Opera Nazionale Maternità e Infanzia), l’OVRA chiede a Sebastiano di spiare Candida, avvicinarla e convincerla di organizzare un evento dove avrebbe dovuto piantare ed in seguito scoprire prove che l’avrebbero accusata di furto e perciò fatta arrestare. Ovviamente Sebastiano non desidera fare niente di tutto ciò e convinto da Anita accetta di fingere di stare al gioco per scoprire i loro intenti e cercare di depistarli. Quando scoprono di non poter fare niente di tutto ciò, l’unico piano è quello di far fuggire dal paese Candida e quando scoprono che i piani dell’OVRA non si fermano a Candida e che Sebastiano dovrà fare la spia e far arrestare altre persone innocenti nonché loro amici, il piano viene modificato per permettere la fuga a tutte queste persone. Nonostante il piano e dunque il finale della storia viene descritto minuziosamente fino agli ultimi capitoli, dopo aver letto gli altri romanzi di Alice Basso, sapevo di aspettarmi un colpo di scena che avrebbe rovesciato tutte le presunte certezze. Con una penna degna di una grande scrittrice di romanzi gialli, Alice Basso cambia le carte in tavola e ci sorprende con svolte stravolgenti che per la prima volta in tutti i suoi romanzi di questa saga, abbandonano la scia dei romanzi rosa e si avvicina ai drammi realistici della vita.

Non intendo fare altri spoiler ma credo basti dire che fra tutti i romanzi di questa saga, “Una festa in nero” è il mio romanzo preferito. Si nota la crescita e la maturazione dei nostri personaggi e con loro la stabilizzazione ed il consolidamento della narrazione e dello stile letterario di Alice Basso. In sostanza questo romanzo è il finale degno di una storia d’amore ambientata in un momento storico difficile e sono sicura che verrà compreso e in fin dei conti soddisferà le aspettative di tutti lettori.

Today I'm reviewing A party in black, the last book in the series, whose main character is the charming typist Anita Bo, by Italian author Alice Basso. Until now, I wasn't entirely convinced that Anita was the main character, as Sebastiano's overbearing presence always made me think of two main characters. After reading this novel, I realized that Sebastiano "Satta Coso" was actually a supporting character for Anita, and that she is literally the one who pulls all the strings in this story. Furthermore, I'm even more convinced that Anita Bo is our author's alter ego, and by the time you get to the final chapter of this fascinating 315-page novel (including the afterword, which I always love reading), you too will be convinced of this.

The events narrated in this novel unfold just weeks after the planned (and no longer desired) wedding between Anita and her official fiancé, Corrado Leone. The love story between Anita and her boss, the writer, translator, and journalist Sebastiano Satta Ascona, is in full swing and occupies most of the book's plot. Sebastiano, who seeks a diplomatic approach with a certain touch of old-fashioned chivalry, and Anita, who dreams of unexpected events that might annul their marriages to their respective fiancés so they can live their love story, are thrown into crisis by the appearance of several members of a ubiquitous service at the time, the OVRA, that is Surveillance or Voluntary Repression of Anti-Fascism, or in other words, the fascist militia. At first, the OVRA presents itself only in the form of a nameless little man, recognizable by his beige raincoat, but we soon discover that its tentacles have infiltrated and grabbed seats in prominent organizations in the country. The intention of the little “Beige” man, whose name we later discover is Nello Pastina, and the OVRA was to recruit Sebastiano Satta Ascona among their members—as the OVRA actually did with other members of the same category—to spy on and, using false evidence, assist in the arrest of high-level members of society who were disliked by Mussolini's regime. Given that Sebastiano employed as a typist one of Candida Fiorio's protégés, a suffragette, unmarried and no longer of age to procreate and contribute to the future interest of her country, and suspected of being homosexual and therefore of corrupting the girls she came into contact with through her work and volunteer activities at the ONMI (National Organization for Maternity and Childhood), the OVRA asked Sebastiano to spy on Candida, approach her, and convince her to organize an event where he would have planted and subsequently discovered evidence that would accuse her of theft and therefore lead to her arrest. Sebastiano obviously doesn't want to do any of this, and persuaded by Anita, he agrees to pretend to play along in order to uncover their intentions and try to throw them off the scent. When they discover they can't do any of this, their only plan is to have Candida flee the country. When they discover that the OVRA's plans don't stop at Candida, and that Sebastiano will have to snitch and arrest other innocent people, including their friends, the plan is modified to allow all these people to escape. Although the plot, and thus the story's ending, is meticulously detailed until the final chapters, after reading Alice Basso's other novels, I knew I had to expect a twist that would overturn all my presumed certainties. With a pen worthy of a great crime novelist, Alice Basso turns the tables and surprises us with shocking twists that, for the first time in all her novels in this series, abandon the romance genre and approach the realistic dramas of real life.

I don't want to do any more spoilers, but I think it's enough to say that of all the novels in this series, "A Party in Black" is my favorite. You can see the growth and maturation of our characters, and with them the stabilization and consolidation of Alice Basso's narrative and literary style. Ultimately, this novel is a fitting finale to a love story set in a difficult historical moment, and I'm sure it will be understood and ultimately will meet the expectations of all readers.

P.S.: I made a rough translation of the title because until now, Alice Basso does not yet have any published novels in English. Hope this situation will change soon because I believe the readers around the world would enjoy her writing.

Nel post di oggi recensirò un prodotto che uso da anni per la pulizia del viso e l’ho sempre riacquistato con molta soddisfazione. Avendo una pelle mista, che in estate diventa grassa, questo sapone mi permette di detergere e purificare adeguatamente la pelle. Inoltre, essendo un sapone di 100gr, mi basta sempre parecchio tempo e non mi fa spendere un occhio della testa. Si tratta del Sapone Detergente Viso al Tea Tree del marchio italiano Bottega Verde. Purtroppo, al momento Bottega Verde non produce e non mette più in vendita questo sapone ma spero che la situazione cambierà in futuro anche se magari dovranno diminuire la quantità.

Informazioni dal produttore: il sapone detergente viso al Tea Tree è un prodotto purificante, igienizzante e super delicato che deterge e purifica con la forza dei suoi attivi naturali, emollienti, e setificanti, lasciando la pelle morbida grazie alla sua formulazione con tensioattivi delicati. Contiene 96% di ingredienti naturali come l’olio essenziale di tè verde e amido di riso che permettono di sgrassare e controllare la secrezione di sebo.

Valutazione personale: come ho già precisato, uso questo sapone da anni e se mi conoscete bene, sicuramente sapete che faccio scorte quando trovo sconti ed ecco perciò come faccio ad avere prodotti anche dopo il loro ritiro dalle vendite. Il sapone fa schiuma facilmente, ha un profumo piacevole e dopo il risciacquo lascia la pelle levigata, nitida, fresca e scricchiolante. La cute risulta tesa e luminosa. Usandolo due volte alla settimana, non ho mai notato effetti spiacevoli, come secchezza o disidratazione. In poche parole, questo è il migliore sapone detergente viso mai usato e mi auguro vivamente che la sua produzione e vendita, venga ripristinata.

PRO: ottima detergenza, pulizia delicata, effetto rinfrescante e levigante, buon controllo del sebo, buon rapporto qualità prezzo soprattutto se scontato

CONTRO: non più disponibile

Conclusione: ottima pulizia e purificazione del viso per tutti i tipi di pelle con ottimo controllo del rapporto pelle olio a dei prezzi adeguati.

Unfortunately, at the moment Bottega Verde no longer produces and sells this soap but I hope that the situation will change in the future even if perhaps they will have to reduce product’s dimension.

Information from the manufacturer: Tea Tree facial cleansing soap is a purifying, sanitizing and super delicate product that cleanses and purifies with the power of its natural, emollient and silky active ingredients, leaving the skin soft thanks to its formulation with delicate surfactants. It contains 96% natural ingredients such as green tea essential oil and rice starch that allow to degrease and control sebum secretion.

Personal evaluation: as I have already stated, I have been using this soap for years and if you know me well, you surely know that I stock up when I find discounts and that is how I can have products even after they have been withdrawn from sale. The soap foams easily, has a pleasant scent and after rinsing it leaves the skin smooth, clear, fresh and squeaky. The skin is taut and luminous. Using it twice a week, I have never noticed any unpleasant effects, such as dryness or dehydration. In short, this is the best facial cleansing soap I have ever used and I sincerely hope that its production and sale will be restored.

PROS: excellent cleansing, gentle cleansing, refreshing and smoothing effect, good sebum control, good value for money especially if discounted

CONS: no longer available

Conclusion: excellent facial cleansing and purification for all skin types with excellent control of the skin-oil ratio at reasonable prices.
