Ciao carissimi
lettori,
scelto queste superficie come riparo.
I ruscelli,
selvatiche, gallinelle d’acqua, germani reali, moriglioni, fistioni turchi,
volpoche, morette tabaccate e aironi.
possano monitorare i propri allenamenti.

Hello my dearest readers,
The first post of this year I would like it to be a post that instilled in us a little hope and positive thinking and since last year was a very hard year especially in recent months because they practically forbade us to travel, I have decided to share with you my impressions of a place I visited in 2019. I hope that things will change and that soon we will be able to travel in order to let our minds and souls breathe and provide our bodies with some healthy and positive energy. Although at this moment I cannot travel yet, no one forbids me to look at the photos of my travels, relive the impressions I experienced that time and hope to be able to travel again soon.
The journey on which my memory has focused now is the short trip we took to Legnano for 1 of May 2019. I hadn't had time to talk to you about that trip or maybe I had just shared a few photos on social media but now, finally the time has come to talk to you about that moment. Legnano is a city located in the upper Milan area, with ancient origins dating back to the first millennium BC that boasts a history so famous that it is mentioned in the Italian national anthem. However, today I will not talk about its history and its monuments as I have only seen them in passing but I will tell you about moments of relaxation, clean air, the joyful reflection of the water when it was kissed by the sun's rays and sinuous and elegant movements of birds that have chosen these surfaces as shelter. In a few words I will tell you about the beauty of the Castello Park, the most emblematic and fascinating park in the city as it is located along the Olona river, at the foot of the Visconteo castle. In a few words I will tell you about the beauty of the Castello Park, the most emblematic and fascinating park in the city as it is located along the Olona river, at the foot of the Visconteo castle. The park was founded in the 1970s with the aim of reforesting an area previously exploited at the agricultural and industrial level and is one of the first examples of urban forest and for this reason it is also known as the local park of the Legnano wood. As soon as we stepped in, we immediately felt the coolness that the large crowns of alders, hawthorns, mulberries, ash trees, willows and plane trees give their visitors. I don't remember now a more fulfilling and relaxing moment than that time when I sat there with my back leaning against the trunk of a plane tree to read a few pages of a book while the laughter of the children who were playing mingled with the singing of birds in the most cheerful melody that there can be in the world. This urban wood is populated by turtles, hedgehogs and American red squirrels who watch curiously at the two footed invaders and hide quickly as soon as they hint to a slightest approach.
Since 1981, a wetland area of about half a hectare was also created, fed by groundwater which has become the characterizing element of this park. The streams, lakes, oxbow lakes and marshes of this wood are populated by various species of fish and water birds. Perhaps it is not so easy to spot pikes or carps but surely our eyes will be delighted by the many wild ocas, moorhens, mallards, pochards, turkish fistioni, shelduck, ferruginous duck and herons. At a more detailed and attentive look, kingfishers can also be identified as they catch their prey on the fly, but it will be almost impossible to immortalize them while doing it.
If the promise of clean air and the visual spectacle guaranteed by the many species I have just mentioned were not enough to convince you to add this park to your list of future tourist destinations, I would like to inform you that the park also has a bar, a green bowling area, half-pipes, skating rink, and internal paths paved with concrete to walk in complete tranquility. A time point has also been installed for jogging enthusiasts to monitor their workouts.

tantissime battaglie e diverse famiglie nobiliari come padroni.
All’interno del
castello si possono ancora ammirare diversi manufatti, gioielli e opere d’arte,
testimonianze delle glorie dei loro proprietari.

We could not visit the park without making a short stop to see the Visconteo Castle or San Giorgio Castel, a medieval fortification dating back to the thirteenth century with the function of defense of the Milano countryside. Initially the castle was born as an ancient convent of Augustinian Regulars dedicated to St. George but was then immediately conquered and during its history it saw many battles and several noble families as masters. I will not go to list them all but I think it is necessary to mention the Della Torre who were the first to occupy the castle, the Visconti who owned it from 1277 until 1437 when Filippo Maria Visconti gave it as a gift to Oldrado II, his adviser and brave warrior who had defeated Gabrino Fondulo, a feudal lord of Cremona, handing over all his properties to the Visconti family. With Oldrado II begins the era of the Lampugnani, a time of battles and conflicts and later in 1798, the castle was bought by the Cornaggia family and stripped of its most precious artifacts. In 1963 the municipality of Legnano bought the castle from the heirs of the Cornaggia family after it had been abandoned, in order to be used for cultural events. Inside the castle, you can still admire various artifacts, jewels and works of art, evidence of the glories of their owners.

Since such a walk makes you hungry, we chose to have lunch in a local emblem of the city, the Legnano Brewery, where we tasted some fantastic burgers and drank the best draft beer ever tried. If you find yourself in the area, we recommend a short stop.
