Ciao carissimi, so che non sono riuscita a rispettare la tabella di marcia che mi ero proposta in merito ai post relativi ai prodotti finiti ma, almeno riesco a pubblicare un post anche questo mese. 

I prodotti finiti a settembre sono in parte prodotti che ho iniziato d'estate e usato nei mesi caldi ed in altri casi prodotti presenti nelle mie scorte da un po' di tempo. I prodotti di cui vi parlerò oggi sono: il Bagnodoccia tonificante al Mar Morto del marchio italiano Bottega Verde, lo Scrub Viso tonificante Bottega Verde per pelli normali o  miste dalla linea Zuccheri di Bellezza, l'Acqua Micellare Fiori d'Arancio Garnier Bio ed il deodorante Dove Fresh Care 48 h long lasting fragrance. 

ENG: Hello everyone, I know I haven't been able to stick to my planned schedule for finished product posts, but at least I've managed to publish one this month.

The products I finished in September are partly products I started using in the summer and used during the warmer months, and partly products I've had in my stash for a while. The products I'll be talking about today are: the Dead Sea Toning Shower Gel from the Italian brand Bottega Verde, the Bottega Verde Toning Facial Scrub for normal to combination skin from the Zuccheri di Bellezza line, Garnier Bio Orange Blossom Micellar Water, and Dove Fresh Care 48-hour long-lasting fragrance deodorant.

Bagnodoccia tonificante Mar Morto del marchio italiano Bottega Verde / Dead Sea Toning Shower Gel from Italian brand Bottega Verde

IT: contenente sali originali del Mar Morto, questo bagnodoccia regala benessere, morbidezza e una sensazione di pelle tonica come un bagno di bellezza nelle acque del Mar Morto. Ha una fragranza marina, fresca e fa abbastanza schiuma. Il produttore pubblicizza il bagnoschiuma per un risultato di pelle tonificata e levigata e mentre non posso testimoniare l'effetto tonificante, la sensazione di pelle levigata è percepibile. Inoltre, la sensazione di freschezza e l'aroma salino che accompagnano il bagno offrono una sensazione simile a quella sperimentata nei centri benessere. Il prodotto si presenta in un contenitore di plastica trasparente contenente 400 ml di prodotto e il prezzo pieno è di 5,99. Questo prodotto si trova raramente in sconto se non contiamo i pacchetti di 3 bagnodoccia al prezzo di 10 euro ma vista la quantità, io ritengo che il prodotto abbia un buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Negli ultimi anni, io l'ho acquistato sempre con i pacchetti dei 3 prodotti. Voto soggettivo: 7.

ENG: containing original Dead Sea salts, this body wash provides a feeling of well-being, softness, and toned skin, similar to a beauty bath in the waters of the Dead Sea. It has a fresh, marine fragrance and produces a pleasant lather. The manufacturer advertises this body wash as toning and smoothing skin, and while I can't vouch for the toning effect, the smoothness is noticeable. Furthermore, the sensation of freshness and the salty aroma that accompany the bath offer a sensation similar to that experienced in spas. The product comes in a clear plastic container containing 400 ml of product, and the full price is €5.99. This product is rarely found on sale, except for the three-pack of body washes priced at €10, but given the quantity, I think it offers good value. In recent years, I have always purchased it in three-packs. Subjective rating: 7.

Scrub Viso tonificante Bottega Verde per pelli normali o miste dalla linea Zuccheri di Bellezza / Bottega Verde Toning Face Scrub for normal or combination skin from the Zuccheri di Bellezza line

IT: questo scrub si presenta come un gel con consistenza granulare, viene venduto in barattoli di vetro, contiene ingredienti esfolianti 100% di origine naturale, ha una texture gel dolcissima, aiuta a liberare i pori, dona una sensazione di freschezza e leviga e tonifica. Lo zucchero di Canna esfolia e leviga la pelle con delicatezza, il limone rinfesca e purifica mentre lo zenzero ha note proprietà tonificante. Io l'ho usato 2 volte alla settimana massaggiandolo delicatamente sulla pelle per poi risciacqua con acqua tiepida. È molto delicato e lascia la pelle non solo pulita ma anche tonificata e meravigliosamente profumata. Il prezzo pieno è di 22 euro, io non ho mai pagato  questa somma e non ho pagato nemmeno la somma scontata del 50% con la quale è in commercio al momento, l'ho acquistato più di una volta e non ho mai pagato più di 10 euro. Dato che basta una modica quantità per un'applicazione, un barattolo basta per circa 2, 3 mesi. Pagandolo fra i 8 e 10 euro considero che ci sia un buon rapporto qualità prezzo, ovviamente ritengo che il prezzo pieno è troppo alto. È importante che una volta aperta e iniziata una confezione, essa va finita nei mesi successivi. In un anno io ho smesso di usarlo per provare altri prodotti e dopo circa un anno quando ho ripreso l'utilizzo, la consistenza era decisamente cambiata, non esfoliava allo stesso modo e non profumava neanche come prima. Voto soggettivo complessivo: 8.

ENG: this scrub comes in the form of a granular gel, is sold in glass jars, contains 100% natural exfoliating ingredients, has a very gentle gel texture, helps unclog pores, provides a feeling of freshness, and smoothes and tones. Cane sugar gently exfoliates and smoothes the skin, lemon refreshes and purifies, and ginger has well-known toning properties. I used it twice a week, gently massaging it into my skin and then rinsing with warm water. It's very gentle and leaves my skin not only clean but also toned and wonderfully scented. The full price is 22 euros, but I've never paid that amount, nor have I paid the 50% discount it's currently on sale. I've bought it more than once and never paid more than 10 euros. Since you only need a small amount for one application, one jar lasts about 2-3 months. Paying between 8 and 10 euros, I consider it a good value, but obviously I think the full price is too high. It's important that once you open and start a bottle, you finish it within a few months. Within a year, I stopped using it to try other products, and after about a year, when I started using it again, the consistency had definitely changed; it didn't exfoliate as well, and it didn't even smell as good as before. Overall subjective rating: 8.

Acqua Micellare Fiori d'Arancio Garnier / Garnier Orange Blossom Micellar Water

IT: Quest'acqua micellare è un prodotto Bio Ecocert con una formula arricchita con acqua di orzo biologico e glicerina vegetale ed è in sostanza un trattamento formulato con acqua di fiori d’arancio biologici che deterge e rimuove il make up senza lasciare residui visibili sulla pelle. Ha delle proprietà illuminanti e lenitive, dona comfort e benessere ed è ideale per le pelli sensibili e spente. Il prodotto si presenta in un tubo in plastica con tappo flip-flop, contenente 400 ml di prodotto, ha una consistenza leggermente oleosa e ha una fragranza citrica. Rimuove il trucco abbastanza bene, non necessita sfregare o insistere, bastano alcune gocce su un dischetto struccante o un batuffolo di cottone appoggiato alcuni secondi sulla zona da struccare e con una mossa decisa, rimuovere il trucco. Ripetere se necessario. Per il trucco normale, il risultato è molto buono, per il trucco waterproof, almeno nel mio caso, è stato necessario ripetere la procedura. Non è la mia acqua micellare preferita ma finora l'ho acquistata 2 volte. Non credo che l'acquisterò nuovamente perché non la trovo più ma considerando che l'ho acquistata sempre nei negozi outlet pagandola fra i 3.50 e 4.50€. Voto soggettivo complessivo: 8

ENG: This micellar water is a Bio Ecocert product with a formula enriched with organic barley water and vegetable glycerin. It is essentially a treatment formulated with organic orange blossom water that cleanses and removes makeup without leaving visible residue on the skin. It has brightening and soothing properties, provides comfort and well-being, and is ideal for sensitive and dull skin. The product comes in a plastic tube with a flip-flop cap, containing 400 ml of product, has a slightly oily consistency, and has a citrus fragrance. It removes makeup quite well; there's no need to rub or insist. Just a few drops on a cotton pad or cotton ball, hold it for a few seconds on the area you want to remove makeup, and with a firm movement, remove the makeup. Repeat if necessary. For normal makeup, the result is very good; for waterproof makeup, at least in my case, it was necessary to repeat the procedure. It's not my favorite micellar water, but I've bought it twice so far. I don't think I'll buy it again because I can't find it anymore, but considering that I've always bought it in outlet stores, paying between €3.50 and €4.50, it's worth it. Overall subjective rating: 8

Deodorante Dove Fresh Care 48 h long lasting fragrance / Dove Fresh Care 48 h long lasting deodorant

Ho lasciato questo prodotto per ultimo perché è quello di cui vorrei parlarvi di più in quanto è quello che mi ha deluso di più. Ma, inizio a parlarvi brevemente del prodotto in modo da poter farsi un'idea completa. Con una formula avanzata, garantisce 48 ore di protezione efficace contro il sudore, mantenendo la tua pelle fresca e asciutta. La sua fragranza a lunga durata è molto avvolgente e dopo averlo usato la pelle rimane asciutta. Secondo il produttore, il deodorante assicura una copertura di 48 H contro il sudore e gli odori, ha una nuova formula arricchita con ingredienti che nutrono la pelle, lasciandola morbida e liscia evitando irritazioni. Purtroppo, a seconda della mia esperienza, la protezione anti sudore di questa nuova formula è decisamente inferiore a quella che i vecchi deodoranti Dove fornivano e non sono solo io a dirlo ma anche mio marito che dopo questa esperienza ha cambiato marca. Il contenitore del prodotto è stato cambiato e con delle dimensioni più piccole ed un contenuto ridotto a 150 ml, viene considerato più facile da portare in giro e maneggiare ma confesso che non abbiamo trovato nessun vantaggio in tutto questo, anzi, senza una riduzione anche del costo, il cambiamento è molto svantaggioso. Inoltre, gli aspetti negativi non finiscono qui perché come potete vedere, il pulsante che attiva lo spray si è rotto o meglio detto, la parte in gomma si è staccata aprendo così lo spray a perdite e difficoltà di erogazione. Considerando tutto questo e anche il fatto che la nuova fragranza non era altrettanto piacevole quanto le vecchie fragranze, il mio voto soggettivo complessivo è 3. 

ENG: I've saved this product for last because it's the one I'd like to tell you about the most, as it's the one that's disappointed me the most. But let's start by briefly describing the product so you can get a complete picture. With an advanced formula, it provides 48 hours of effective protection against sweat, keeping skin fresh and dry. Its long-lasting fragrance is very enveloping, and after use, your skin stays dry. According to the manufacturer, the deodorant provides 48-hour protection against sweat and odors, and its new formula is enriched with ingredients that nourish the skin, leaving it soft and smooth while preventing irritation. Unfortunately, in my experience, the sweat protection of this new formula is significantly inferior to that of the old Dove deodorants, and I'm not the only one who says so, but also my husband, who after this experience switched brands. The product container has been changed, with a smaller size and a reduced capacity of 150 ml. It's considered easier to carry around and handle, but I confess that we haven't found any advantages in this; in fact, without a reduction in cost, the change is very disadvantageous.  Furthermore, the negatives don't end there because, as you can see, the button that activates the spray is broken, or rather, the rubber part has come off, thus making the spray prone to leaks and difficulty dispensing. Considering all of this and also the fact that the new fragrance wasn't as pleasant as the old fragrances, my overall subjective rating is a 3.

Detto ciò, spero la mia esperienza possa servire quando farete i vostri acquisti ma soprattutto quando userete i prodotti e spero che il nuovo anno possa portarvi più cose positive. 

That being said, I hope my experience can be useful when you make your purchases but above all when you use the products and I hope that the new year can bring you more positive things.

Flatlandia di Edwin Abbott Abbott - recensione letteraria / Flatland by Edwin Abbott Abbott - book review

 

Carissimi lettori,

Nel post di oggi recensirò il libro Flatlandia (Flatland titolo originale) dello scrittore, matematico, teologo e pedagogista britannico Edwin Abbott Abbott. Nacque nel 1838 a Marylebone in una famiglia della media aristocrazia, i suoi genitori erano cugini di primo grado, perciò anche il cognome Abbott Abbott, o come a lui piaceva segnarsi, Abbott². Prese i voti di sacerdote della Chiesa Anglicana nel 1862 e per la prima parte della sua vita, l’autore si dedicò all’insegnamento che abbandonò definitivamente nel 1889 per occuparsi della scrittura ed approfondire i suoi studi. Scrisse più di quaranta libri, dalle opere teologiche, ai manuali scolastici, alle biografie, sino all'opera per cui oggi è maggiormente noto, e che oggi recensirò per voi, Flatlandia. Pubblicata nel 1884 con lo pseudonimo A Square, Flatlandia è un romanzo fantascientifico che narra la vita di un abitante in un ipotetico universo bidimensionale che entra in contatto con l'abitante di un universo tridimensionale.

L’autore divide il racconto in due parti, la prima parte descrive il mondo bidimensionale dove il nostro personaggio, un quadrato, abita e vive e nella seconda parte, lo scrittore descrive l’incontro del nostro personaggio con una sfera che le rivela l’esistenza di una terza dimensione. Come potete già immaginare, il mondo bidimensionale, dove abita il nostro personaggio è un mondo piatto, rigido, i personaggi si muovono solo su un unico piano, e sono divisi in categorie strette ricollegabili alla loro forma. Prima di conoscere la sfera, il nostro quadrato incontra il monarca di linealandia, un mondo dove i personaggi si possono muovere solo in avanti e possono vedere solo chi hanno di fronte e nonostante abbia faticato a spiegare al monarca l’esistenza di flatlandia, un mondo che permetteva il movimento in più direzioni sullo stesso piano, l’apparizione della sfera sconcerta il nostro quadrato, restio, come il monarca d’altronde ad accettare che lo spazio e l’universo comprendessero altre dimensioni oltre a quelle da loro conosciute. Una volta accettata la presenza della sfera e scoperto un mondo tridimensionale nuovo, nel nostro personaggio nasce una vera sete di conoscenza ed inizia ad ipotizzare, per analogia, una quarta dimensione, che, come nei casi precedenti, si scontra con il rifiuto grave della sfera, in questo caso, la creatura superiore, manifestazione comune di ogni essere, che in assenza di prove tangibili, non può accettare di non essere l’apice dell’evoluzione e di non conoscere tutta la verità.

Questo breve romanzo è una deliziosa satira allegorica della società inglese del fine ottocento, l’autore descrivendo infatti Flatlandia come una società rigidamente divisa in gerarchie, suddivisione basata sull'aspetto fisico, nello specifico, sul numero di lati che formano le figure. Nel mondo di Flatlandia un maggior numero di lati, quindi un angolo più largo, viene associato a maggior intelligenza, perciò a scuole migliori e in seguito a lavori migliori, di maggior responsabilità ed in conclusione una posizione migliore nella società. In questo mondo non si può sperare in un'ascesa sociale personale in quanto la forma determina le capacità e qualità ma solo eventualmente un’ascesa della prole, che sviluppando ad ogni generazione un lato in più, avrà la possibilità anche di migliorare la propria posizione sociale. Uno speciale spazio viene riservato alle donne che in quell'universo sono delle linee (oppure punti, nel mondo lineandese), perciò limitate, senza abilità intellettuali e dotate solo di capacità emozionali, assistenziali ed empatiche. Esse sono paragonate ai bambini e vanno perennemente protetti dal mondo esterno. Quando al quadrato viene rivelato il fatto che un alto il livello di società è correlato ad un altresì alto livello di empatia e perciò ad un abbassamento dei concetti e valori materiali, il negazionismo del quadrato non viene sconfitto nemmeno quando viene assillato dall’entusiamo della scoperta o la sete di conoscere, spiegando dunque l’esistenza di preconcetti misogini e razzisti anche fra i luminari di un’epoca. Sono tante le problematiche discusse in questo romanzo, problematiche pertinenti non solo all’epoca vittoriana ma presenti anche nei tempi odierni, soprattutto le limitazioni imposte alle donne in certe aree geografiche, il peso accordato ai valori materiali, la manipolazione attraverso informazioni errate o scarse, lo scoppio e la repressione dei conflitti oppure l’autorevolezza indiscussa accordata a certi capi anche nella società contemporanea. Le implicazioni sociologiche, filosofiche e pedagogiche sono innumerevoli, anche se formulate in un modo estroso ed eclettico perciò considero che questo romanzo non faccia per chiunque. Io stessa ho sospeso la lettura del romanzo ad un certo punto e confesso che la prima parte del romanzo essendo limitata al mondo bidimensionale ed io non una grande intenditrice e simpatizzante della matematica, mi sono trovata in stallo prima di arrivare al capitolo dedicato alla rivoluzione.

Aggiungo soltanto il fatto che nonostante non avesse ricevuto una grande accoglienza all’epoca essendo stampato solo in un paio di edizioni, la sua fama si concretizza dopo la divulgazione della teoria della relatività di Albert Einstein quando l’ipotetica quarta dimensione viene scoperta e teorizzata. Dal punto di vista letterario, Flatlandia può essere visto come un predecessore del romanzo distopico moderno.

In today's post I will review the book Flatland by the British writer, mathematician, theologian and pedagogue Edwin Abbott Abbott. He was born in 1838 in Marylebone in a middle-class family, his parents were first cousins, hence the surname Abbott Abbott, or as he liked to sign himself, Abbott². He took vows as a priest of the Anglican Church in 1862 and for the first part of his life, the author devoted himself to teaching which he definitively abandoned in 1889 to devote himself to writing and deepen his studies. He wrote more than forty books, from theological works, to school manuals, to biographies, up to the work for which he is best known today, and which I will review for you today, Flatland. Published in 1884 under the pseudonym A Square, Flatland is a science fiction novel that narrates the life of an inhabitant of a hypothetical two-dimensional universe who comes into contact with an inhabitant of a three-dimensional universe.

The author divides the story into two parts, the first part describes the two-dimensional world where our character, a square, inhabits and lives and in the second part where the writer describes the encounter of our character with a sphere that reveals the existence of a third dimension. As you can already imagine, the two-dimensional world, where our character lives is a flat, rigid world, the characters move only on a single plane, and are divided into narrow categories linked to their shape. Before knowing the sphere, our square meets the monarch of flatland, a world where the characters can only move forward and can only see who is in front of them and despite having struggled to explain to the monarch the existence of flatland, a world that allowed movement in multiple directions on the same plane, the appearance of the sphere disconcerts our square, reluctant, like the monarch, to accept that space and the universe included other dimensions beyond those known to them. Once the presence of the sphere has been accepted and a new three-dimensional world has been discovered, a real thirst for knowledge arises in our character and he begins to hypothesize, by analogy, a fourth dimension, which, as in previous cases, clashes with the serious refusal of the sphere, in this case, the superior creature, common manifestation of every being, which in the absence of tangible evidence, cannot accept not being the pinnacle of evolution and not knowing the whole truth.

This short novel is a delightful allegorical satire of late nineteenth-century English society, the author describing Flatland as a society rigidly divided into hierarchies, a subdivision based on physical appearance, specifically, on the number of sides that form the figures. In the world of Flatland, a greater number of sides, therefore a wider angle, is associated with greater intelligence, therefore with better schools and subsequently with better jobs, with greater responsibility and ultimately a better position in society. In this world, one cannot hope for a personal social ascent because the form determines the abilities and qualities as the only possibly ascension being that of the offspring, who by developing an additional side with each generation, will also have the possibility of improving their social position. A special space is reserved for women who in that universe are lines (or points, in the lineandes world), therefore limited, without intellectual abilities and equipped only with emotional, assistance and empathic abilities. They are compared to children and must be perpetually protected from the outside world. When the square is revealed to the fact that a high level of society is correlated to an equally high level of empathy and therefore to a lowering of material concepts and values, the denialism of the square is not defeated even when it is besieged by the enthusiasm of discovery or the thirst for knowledge, thus explaining the existence of misogynistic and racist preconceptions even among the luminaries of an era. There are many issues discussed in this novel, issues pertinent not only to the Victorian era but also present in today's times, especially the limitations imposed on women in certain geographical areas, the weight given to material values, manipulation through incorrect or scarce information, the outbreak and repression of conflicts or the undisputed authority granted to certain leaders even in contemporary society. The sociological, philosophical and pedagogical implications are innumerable, even if formulated in a whimsical and eclectic way so I consider that this novel is not for everyone. I myself stopped reading the novel at a certain point and I confess that the first part of the novel being limited to the two-dimensional world and me not being a great connoisseur and sympathizer of mathematics, I found myself at a standstill before getting to the chapter dedicated to the revolution.

I will only add that although it did not receive a great reception at the time, being printed in only a couple of editions, its fame materializes after the popularization of Albert Einstein's theory of relativity when the hypothetical fourth dimension is discovered and theorized. From a literary point of view, Flatland can be seen as a predecessor of the modern dystopian novel.
