Cari amici e lettori,

Dear friends and readers,
Unfortunately, since the break due to the fractures in my hand and wrist has to be prolonged (I have never broken anything in my life so I had no idea what it entailed or how long it would last) I decided not to wait any longer and make smaller posts with the help of my smartphone. The fact that I have had a lot of practice typing with my left hand helps a lot.

So, I'll pick up where I left off two months ago, that is, the beautiful things about the month of June. I'll share with you the second part of my vacation, that is, the time spent in Slovenia and the little foray into Austria. Slovenia is a country that I love very much and so I was very excited to visit Ljubljana, its capital and Lake Bled, one of the most popular tourist destinations. While Ljubljana left a very positive impression on me thanks to its very rich and fascinating history, its very well-kept monuments, its varied and refined architecture, its order, cleanliness, and facilities for disabled people, Lake Bled deeply disappointed me. I don't mean to say that it wasn't a beautiful lake because it is, but this type of lake is full of them in the world and especially in Italy, but the fact that nothing has been done to make it accessible to disabled people, deeply disturbed me. No disabled parking (only one small normal parking lot in the area with the best view), no ramps to enter the premises, architectural barriers everywhere and I could go on like this but I would end up boring you but I think the most important thing is that except for the lake, there is not much that could please tourists. Unkempt vegetation, small paths full of bicycles that made walking difficult, sloppy premises with plastic decorations and many other defects that made me think that Bled was definitely an overrated tourist destination.

So sorry you are still struggling with your wrist. My nephew was in a car accident and hurt his hand and had nerve damage and had to have multiple surgeries. He is doing better now. Thought it is great that you can still travel. How exciting to get to so many places. Yes that is VERY frustrating they do not have accamodations for disabled people.

DeleteHello, dear Flo,
ReplyDeleteI really understand what you're struggling with with that broken hand and wrist, when I broke my foot, instead of spending 6 months in an orthopaedic boot, I spent 9 months! Time doesn't seem to go by. It really is a problem that people with reduced mobility have to face so many obstacles. And that these people aren't thought of when a city is being planned! Toilets are also a problem, although Portugal has evolved a lot in this field, Portuguese society is now more inclusive!
As for your wonderful photos, I loved travelling with you and I wish you only good things every month of the year, for your whole life! Hugs!
Those are in fact issues that have to be faced and solved. Thank you for sharing, coming from a person with such high sensibility, it is very valuable!
Deletei hope you are doing good flo. i hope your speedy recovery. As always your photos are a treat to the eyes!

DeleteI adore Slovenia too and love to visit Ljubljana.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Lake Bled but this is disappointing that it isn't accessible to disabled people.
Graz is on my travel wish list.

DeleteCiao Flo.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your hand injury. Slovenia sounds lovely, but it's disappointing that Lake Bled wasn’t accessible. Graz looks fascinating with its mix of history and modernity!
ReplyDeleteYes, Graz is in fact all that and even more. Thank you for your visit and for carefully reading my post.
